I realize Butch gets his share of criticism and I'm not looking to get into all that...said it up front because this thread is intended to be about one thing....a positive thought..

I've been listening closely lately to Butch's drumming through various incarnations of the band. His drumming throughout is solid...outstanding...the engine, with Jaimoe that keeps the car moving. He's an incredible drummer.Creative,powerful....really"owns" the material he plays...he clearly loves it and its self evident in his playing.

Butch is a key part of my enjoyment of the Allman Brothers. I always spent a significant amount of the show watching Butch. He is a force.

I still remember his posts on this board talking about musical dynamics and the significance of the quiet moments in creating the crescendos. This makes me think he is a natural teacher and I believe a giving, generous person.

I'd love to see his farm in France. I bet the food and wine and lifestyle are second to none.

Roll on Freight Train! Roll on.

Here here! about Butch (and Jaimoe!). I will say that the quality of music that Gregg & Dickey have released in their career has always been highest with Butch and/or Jaimoe involved.

Absolutely -- all-up on every post -- no matter what era you're in, the constant is Butch's masterful playing -- he doesn't just know the material, he loves it -- the sense of melody in his playing as well as the bro 'freight train', There Throughout

I have said for years that the difference between a great and so-so ABB night often comes down to how Butch is playing. Love his playing. I try not to get to sucked into the negativity about him. Would love to go to Butch's camp, but it's a bad time of year for me.
