Buried my dads ashes last weekend

in the urn I put a warren haynes guitar pick. Saw warren a few times with my dad. We saw the mule rolling stones Halloween show and a ABB show together. So now a pick used by warren will be with my dad forever. Miss my dad a lot....got him into the mule and he really enjoyed warrens playing and singing....

Sincere condolences. Cherish all those special moments you spent together.

And my condolences too. When I see certain bridges and buildings in my hometown, I can see my dad because he and I were there many times together.
I'm glad your father enjoyed Warren and the Mule. Warren is one of the great ones.

Nice of you to send your Dad off with a pick. those personal gestures are the special ones.
I buried my Dad last year and my brother this year in the same place. Mom was already there.
I place picks at the headstone and the odd CD for them to hear. My brother bought me my first guitar when i was a kid. Greatest gift that anyone ever bought me. At his service, they had flowers for people to put in with the urn. I gave him a pick.
i once took him to Bob Seger and got him a few minutes with Bob, killer show and free beer. My brother's favorite by far - Bob may have wrote Against The Wind about my brother.
Sorry that your Dad passed away but now at the Heavenly Jam, when Duane loses his pick - your Dad can hand him one.

thanks for your thoughts guys, it means a lot.

lots of love from this family here,
we share the joys and sorrows together.

To this day I don't know if it's fact or rumor, they say Duane was laid to rest with a joint and a Coricidin bottle in his shirt pocket.

I am so sorry for your lost.
What a wonderful send away gift that will last forever.
I was just reading today that grief is the love that we still want to give.
I found that comforting.

sorry for your loss
those memories are a great thing.
I still remember my 1st wife smiling at me as we were dancing at the Beacon, March 2013.
the spirit never dies

RIP Sir.

Sorry for the loss of your father, Mr hedges. Remember the good times!
My dear ol Dad bought me my first guitar, a Silvertone. Through the years we had countless sing-alongs where I'd play his favorite classic country songs and let him howl at the moon. I kept a small vial of his ashes and every year on his birthday I sprinkle just a pinch into the soundhole of my acoustic guitars. Just seems to sound a bit better.
