Bummer: Devon Allman leaves Royal Southern Brotherhood

I think it's not yet announced on their own website but there's a message on their European label website.
Bummer. I gonna see RSB this summer but it looks like Devon won't be performing with them by then anymore. Luckily i gonna see Devon Allman and his own band this may.
Royal Southern Brotherhood Announce New Lineup
Royal Southern Brotherhood will enlist the help of guitarists Bart Walker and Tyrone Vaughan for their third studio release, recorded at FAME Studios located along the Tennessee River in Muscle Shoals. Vaughan hails from extensive rock lineage as the son of blues guitarist Jimmie Vaughan and nephew of Stevie Ray Vaughan. Walker, a Nashville native, is a classically trained guitarist who has collaborated with the likes of Mike Farris and Reese Wynan before focusing on a solo career. The two new guitarists will replace Mike Zito and Devon Allman, who decided to concentrate on their solo careers. Zito left the band in October of 2014 and Devon’s last performance with the RSB will be at the Wanee Festival in Live Oak, FL in mid-April. Currently, the group is still supporting their latest release heartsoulblood with dates throughout the winter and early spring months. The current lineup features Cyril Neville along with Allman, Bart Walker, Yonrico Scott and Charlie Wooton.

Actually, Devon announced this some time back - about the time that the Wanee lineup was announced. I think it was on his Facebook page and that may be why you were unaware.

Hello Alan,
Yep, in that case you might be right because i'm not on facebook, twitter, myspage etc. so i might have overlooked this. The RSB website doesn't seem to be up to date either which is often the case nowadays.
Often band websites are far less frequently updated then their facebook page.

Shame as I enjoy RSB but something seems a little off in that camp.
Besides Devon is getting good advice, his career has been a slow and steady build and now is the best time to go full out. With the ABB down and Gregg getting more media than in many years, it is the best time to take advantage of the Allman name. Solid career move IMO.

I really loved the RSB... so much, if fact, that I converted every version of their live YouTube videos into mp3... I think 52 or 53 songs in all. They did all sorts of covers, their own solo material, as well as their own original tunes written for the RSB project. I think I could somehow stomach the loss of Zito, but without Devon, it's just not RSB, although I have no doubt they'll still be a great band and I'm willing to give them a chance. The divide between Zito and Bart Walker is continental stylistically. Then take out the best living R&B singer on the planet and how are you going to bridge the gap?
On the flip side, both Zito and Devon are still producing good solo music, although I think Devon's latest is nowhere near as good as RSB. And Zito is in a league of his own - very unique style and tone both on vocals and guitar. But I have to reconcile the new RSB in my mind as something separate and distinct. Maybe a name change is in order, although each person still present has a valid pedigree and resume to assume the throne. It will be very interesting to see whether the newest lineup can still fly.

I think it's not yet announced on their own website but there's a message on their European label website.
