First visit back since the passing of BB so should be a moving show. 3 night run, I am going tonight night and tomorrow. anyone else? I miss the great music chats at the Beacon so say hi to the "older" chick with the Dickey shirt on if you enjoy talking about music.

I'm sure at some point during this run he'll get onto the crowd for not knowing the words and talk about how he just got back from Tokyo and they knew them better than this crowd.

He did that tonight, the crowd laughed!
I have seen Buddy many times and this was the best! He played much more psychedelic style than usual. Played different departed blues artists style in great tribute.
Perhaps someone has a thought as to who he was referencing when he recognized the passing of BB and said " now there are only two of us left"
Any idea folks?

I'm pretty sure he does that line every night. He must spend a lot of time in Tokyo.
James Cotton? Taj Mahal?

My first guess was John Mayall, who is 81 and still going strong. But Mayall unfortunately doesn't get much respect from anyone, so he may have been referring to Eric Clapton, although Clapton's about ten years younger than Buddy.

Actually I think he did just return from Japan. last time I saw him at BB's he used the joke with India instead as he just came back from a blues festival there. I believe you are correct about James Cotton . As much as I think Taj and Mayall are up there I think he was referencing his geographical as well as blues history . I will try to ask his producer tonight who hangs around merchant. By the way if you haven't read Buddy's autobiography it is an easy read rich in blues history he lived, just fantastic!

From my extensive (3 minutes) research, it looks like Buddy Guy's last show in Japan was 2012. I think it's just part of his act in messing with the crowd.
He's done it on the 3 shows I've seen in the past 6 years and on a show I saw a DVD of from the UK as well.
Of course he could really just love Japan.
Either way, he's a national treasure.

It would be nice if there was a Blackhawk viewing screen setup somewhere in the park Saturday night. I see Taj Mahal cancelled his set for Saturday .. his Facebook page said he needed the rest, hope that's all it is.
