Thanks! This looks to be very cool. I wonder why Derek and Oteil are not listed. Oteil has shows in NOLA on either side of May 1, but Derek looks open.

This no doubt would be a cool event as many would want to celebrate the Colonel.

Just curious if anyone knows what connection Peter Buck may have with him ?

DT would indeed seem like a natural along with Oteil. Sometimes, you just have a lot going on in life. Derek is a Dad, too.

heneiken - check your PMs.

Not really sure, but I imagine Bruce was a fixture on the Athens music scene when REM was coming up. Even if music styles are so different, Bruce could've been an influence of some sort. Peter Buck was interviewed and included in the Basically Frightened documentary.

Looks like a fun time at the Fox. Tix are a little spendier than I had initially expected. $35, $50, $75 and $125 price points (before junk fees). I imagine there will be some more big name guests added, which might include Derek & Susan, among others.

It does say special guests at the bottom.

Not working for me (again). Even if I select 1 ticket and "Best Available" (i.e., all price levels) I keep getting "We are sorry. The number of seats you requested could not be found in any price level at this time. You may request a different number of tickets and try again."

Wonder if pre-sale could be down outside of normal business hours. I'll try again later this morning, or wait until regular on-sale time tomorrow.

Also, the price points after all fees are:

$48.20 - Dress Circle (top of balcony)
$65.10 - Mid-Orchestra, Rear Orchestra, Loge (lowest balcony), 1st Dress Circle (i.e. main-balcony), 2nd dress circle (mid-upper balcony)
$91.25 - Front Orchestra
$143.95 - Pit

There is a $3.50 "restoration fee", plus a "per ticket fee" ranging from $13.50, $15.10, $16.25, or $18.95 depending on price point of base ticket.

That was actually my first thought, but I didn't think the demand would be there to be honest. You snooze you lose. I'll try again tomorrow. Thanks for posting the pre-sale info though.

Wow, those went fast. I was able to score 2 together in the 1st Dress Circle (low-to-mid balcony) in the center section on the aisle, searching right at 10:00am as soon as the "Find Tickets" link appeared.

I tried holding them and searching again, and next time "best available" was 2nd dress circle so I threw them back. Tried one more time and none available. At 10:04. Crazy. 20 minutes later and sometimes none available and sometimes more seats come up, even got downstairs next to the wall once but said no thanks. I think a lot of people are holding seats and continuing to search, so I'm sure more seats will be available later this morning. But otherwise looks to be a sellout.

Pre-show party in Rusty's room!

I've come up w/ a theory why Oteil and Derek are not on the bill. Since they have shows here in June and July, there may be contractual or business reasons why they can't be listed here. I can't imagine their missing this. Also wondering about Jeff Sipe and Glenn Phillips.

Thanks for the heads-up on this one, Brock! Yeah - party in my room (Ga Terrace)! Zambi - looks like we'll be show neighbors! I opted for front row, lower dress circle (why didn't LOGE occur to me?). As much as I'd love to be on the floor, my old knees can't stand all night anymore. Should be one for the ages!

I'm getting excited for this, and have invited several women (and a male Fox usher) to Rusty's room! One of whom used to manage Wet Willie 😉 .

Incorporating the webcast link (thanks Ladymule):

http://nugs.tv/

Sure hope there is video on demand so I can re-watch.

The Col on a podcast said Sipe will be there. I'm offering 2:1 odds that Derek will be too for any gamblers out there.

Hey, you're welcome, Brock. 48 hours video on demand is the standard for nugs although they only gave us 24 hours for the Christmas Jam this past December. I think the Christmas Jam was an exception to the 48 hour rule.

Happy Birthday to the Colonel! Today is his birthday.
Any ideas if the folks will do a little rehearsal today? Is it proper to rehearse for Zambiland jams?

Would love to be a fly on the wall for that. Y'all who are going will have a blast.

If you are in town today, a nice hang would. E the Inman Park festival, for free, BYOB, lots of bands and Atlantans enjoying the w/e.

Bruce was also interviewed on the Atlanta NPR affiliate WABE/90.1FM on Lois Reitzes' 11am daily show City Lights. Can't find it on the WABE web-site though... seems to be a couple days lag time before any of the on-air stuff shows up on their web-site.

I don't think the Colonel is anti-rehearsal. Isn't rehearsing part of being a world class musician?

There are definitely rehearsals. I saw Warren and Schools and Jon Fishman rehearsing in a clip on twitter

Kind of a weird ending. The Colonel was laying on the stage. He laid down around the beginning of "Lovelight." At the end of the song folks rushed out from the wings and lifted him up. Someone started pulling the curtain closed by hand. Susan looked kinda confused. And the show abruptly ended.

Anyone there have any other insights?

Saw the whole incident from a balcony vantage point. Just surreal.

Nearing the show's end, Col Bruce seemed to be doing one of those James Brown antics - collapsing in front of a stage monitor. Most of the musicians seemed to think it was part of his act. Several seemed to be "waving him up" - not unlike James Brown's handlers would do before coming out with the lame cape. I watched intently after several minutes to see if I could tell if he was breathing or not. This was after he had laid there for a good 5 minutes. Then some of the players started looking concerned.

I think it was Derek who waved for the music to stop. Then several people ran out and picked Col Bruce up by his arms and legs. Again he seemed unresponsive.

It was a weird and abrupt ending to the show. No calls for an encore from the audience.

As we were leaving, we noticed fire trucks and ambulances near the stage door. A phone call from a very reliable source says that Col Bruce did have a heart attack.

Folks, cross your fingers. If you have religion, now is the time to make your contact.

This was a horrible ending to an otherwise fantastic show.

Col Bruce is in my immediate thoughts and prayers.
