Brother B.O.

Just listened to Whipping Post from American Univ in honor of Berry today. No one like him. A true original.

The best !

I'm a huge Berry fan too. Recently I read a Dickey interview and Dickey said when asked how did the band get its sound and legacy and Dickey said he mentions Duane's vision, leadership, inspiration, energy and guitar playing and he always mentions the big part Berry Oakley's bass playing had in that too but it usually doesnt get printed.
I love the beginnings of Mountain Jam on Eat A Peach when Duane and Dickey start playing the melody "first there is a mountain"together, Berry Oakley soon joins them and you actually have THREE lead guitars.
Apparently the last thing Berry did on record was the bass guitar on Ramblin Man from Brothers and Sisters. Brothers and Sisters was dedicated to Berry Oakley. He plays on Waisted Words.
Raymond Berry Oakley 3rd. My favorite electric bass player.
