Blackberry Smoke/Ida Mae @The City Winery, NY 4/6/19

Blackberry Smoke is one of my favorite bands. Great show opened by Ida Mae a nice throwback folk blues duo, I got jammed up with 4 accidents and down to 2 lanes crossing the George Washington Bridge due to construction (I wish they'd check with me). Ida Mae is a husband and wife duo consisting of Chris Turpin (g/v) and Stephanie Jean (v/percussion). Raunch and grit combined and packaged with grace and beauty. I will be looking for more from these two.
Great intimate acoustic format by the Gents in BS was a true treat. They bring with the best of them electric and this was sweet. I just saw that they'll be playing 2 nights at the Brooklyn Bowl in September. They'll back on the road in May. Time to tag the calendar. The Smoke rises with Paul Jackson (g/v), Charlie Starr (g/v), Brandon Still, and brothers Brit (d) and Richard (b) Turner. For this tour they brought Benji Shanks out of the studio to join in on mandolin, dobro, and guitar. The Pizza Tapes would be on the same menu my ears dined from last night.

Thanks for posting. Truly one of the best touring acts around. Always put on a great show. Met them years ago in New Hope, PA. Don't get the respect they deserve.
