My favorite tune off Rich's Ceaseless Sight CD is the song "I Remember." I wondered who the song was about. I don't anymore.

I Remember by Rich Robinson

I remember
You dropped your soul
Left in on the ground behind you
Never could go home

Lived with a person once and I watched you disappear
I've always been there for you no matter who you became

You forgot yourself
Traveling across the world
Never knew where you left it
Your soulless life unfolds

Lived with a person once and I watch you disappear
I've always been there for you no matter who you became

Lived with a person once and I watch you disappear
I've always been there for you no matter who you became

This news has left me with four thoughts:

1) I will go out of my way to see Trigger Hippy whenever they are nearby.......I love Jackie, can tolerate Joan, but now Steve seals it.....did not know he had that sports show and his response to the whole nonsense with the Crowes was perfect......I will gladly feed that band my disposable income

2) CRB can't sell out a 450 seat theatre in NYC on a Fri/Sat........charging $35.......if this is a money play from Chris, he lost big time. I think he will now fall back on the "I'm not in it for the money mode" as he travels around the country playing 100+ shows a year with CRB and really not making any money. Then he will come out and say not making money with CRB is better than rehashing the same songs with the BC.......until he needs more money.....

3) I will still have a great time at the Gramercy theatre CRB show noted in point 2 I am attending, but I will have much less respect for Chris (and will have even less if it comes out that he canned his original drummer George S)

4) Rich doesn't play enough shows no matter what nonsense is going on........he needs to play at least two or three NYC area shows a year

Not a coincidence that they could never keep a line up together.Look at how many Guitarist have come and gone always blaming Chris..The first quit after the first tour. One point about Steve Gorman when the band reunited after 2002-2005 break they begged him to rejoin. He really wanted out.was surprised he stayed. It may be a good time to bow out since they play smaller and smaller venues and still don't sell out.At least in Burlington VT where they couldn't sell 1000 over two nights.

I've always liked Steve Gorman's drumming, a lot. I just listened to to his statement on his sports show, and it's classy all the way. Especially the part where he says something along the lines of "Thanks to everyone that's ever hired a babysitter, skipped an exam, missed work... to come see us, thank you."

Other musicians should take a page from his book.

^^
reminds me of something Rich said / did when I saw TBC and TTB July 2013 in Boston

As the set ended, he called out some guy near the front, saying something like - she's just trying to have fun, why are you f**ing with her. He pointed him to security. And then he said to the girl - and THANK YOU for coming out to our show and having a good time.

Ceaseless Sight and Trigger Hippy are both great albums

iancate, I would disagree with your first statement wholeheartedly. The guitar slot in the Black Crowes is probably one of the most coveted in Rock IMO. It would be akin to something like the modern day Yardbirds. First there aren't that many bands plying the 70's era guitar heavy blues rock that we know and love. Not only that the Crowes seem to allow their guitarists free reign but also encourage their creativity. From my understanding the slot is pretty much theirs to lose. Drug use claimed Jeff Cease as well as the perennial favorite Marc Ford (not once but twice!) As for the others I doubt seriously they regret their decision to join especially Luther Dickinson. I wondered what was wrong with the Crowes when they announced Luther as their guitarist because I felt he was a pedestrian picker at best. His growth as a player during his tenure with the Crowes can only be likened to a certain young slide guitarist from Jacksonville in one of our favorite bands IMO. As for waning crowds, I believe that it's an ailment of the whole industry in general. No one is immune including our ABB. 🙁

The show I saw in 2013 at the Fillmore in Detroit was sold out. Capacity there is roughly 2,888. Still bummed at this news as I wanted to see them again as the show I saw was really good.

Getting let go from the BC because of drugs is like Gregg kicking out Dickey for the same. Oh wait... 😛

There have been plenty of people offered that spot over the years who have said no. They may let a guy play but that doesn't mean all of the rest is worth it. Both brothers can be very hard to deal with and then their inability to get along makes everything else even more poison. They have gone through that many for a reason.

Lifelong Crowes fan here. When I was a senior in high school I got hooked the day I saw them open for ZZ Top and have seen them on every tour since. Went to all the solo shows and have supported them through up and down times. It's a real damn shame that Chris can't see what magic they truly have together. I could live with the solo stuff and the reuniting every few years. The fact is.... that what the brothers do separately will never compare to the what they have together. Chris is no guitar player. Rich is no singer. They are two halves of the most rock-n-roll band in rock-n-roll! There have been a few less than awesome shows in the past, but seeing them in 2013 with TTB was AMAZING! Chris was more animated and seemed to be having more fun than I've seen in a loooong time. Salt in the wound is hearing that they were trying to get an anniversary tour together for this year. First ABB closes shop and now this... LAME LAME LAME!

As a fan from the beginning when Shake your Money Maker was still playing on the radio in 89/90, these guys started to loose me at 3 Snakes and I really have considered them over since around 06. The hostile take over by Chris seems pretty crappy from a "Band of Brothers" stand point.

Seems like after Ed and Marc left/ were kicked out, whatever, the Groove just wasn't there. I think Sven is a great player and fit well with the band but the in and out of other players just wasn't going to work in the long run.

SH&MC was my generations Live at the Filmore IMHO so it's been a hard road since then. haha

I'm with ya Jeremy. SH&MC, holy smokes that was an anticipated release and BOOM, they took off. I can remember just before the release, they played a final show at the 40Watt in Athens, and that afternoon, I was driving down Broad, and see the Bros Crowes come out of the Subway sandwich shop right around the corner from the Watt, and thinking, that won't be happening again anytime soon!! how true it was.

Marc Ford's second tenure ended with him quitting, as he didn't want to be in the midst, again, of the drugs and such that were going down backstage. He feared for his own sobriety apperantly, and left. Nothing wrong with that. Crazy Eddie was a bit of a surprise, but yeah, whatdaya gotta do to get kicked out 😉

The Brothers Robinson have ALWAYS been at wits end with the other. They managed to get along and keep it together thru Luther's tenure, and ended well it seems, only to start back to quickly I thought. This one will prolly take things WAY longer to mend, and it blows that CR comes across as the d-bag by wanting his bro & Gorman out, WTH!!??!!

oh well, it's just the way it is. I have too many good times associated w/ Live Crowes gigs & their music in general. I was able to stand 15' away from CR & Luther the whole nite at that line up's last Tabernacle show Nov 2010, and that nite left me wanting no more (oh Sweet Nuthin' indeed!!!) Seeing them w/ TTB in 2013 was great funn as well, only icing on the cake.

http://www.jambands.com/news/2015/01/16/steve-gorman-addresses-black-crowes-breakup

Yesterday, Rich Robinson announced that The Black Crowes were officially breaking up. Drummer Steve Gorman, who has previously said he’d be surprised if the Crowes ever did anything again, addressed the breakup on his radio show. Per JamBase, Gorman stated, “(Rich Robinson’s) statement is true. I’m really sorry to say. That’s all she wrote for The Black Crowes.” The drummer went on to thank the fans, saying, “Thanks to everybody because The Black Crowes had a tremendous run and far more than the knuckleheads that we were in 1987 when we started the band, should’ve ever have hoped to expected.”Gorman addressed the business side of things, specifically the request that Chris Robinson wanted Gorman and brother Rich to surrender their share of the band. “There was no chance in a million years that would be agreed to,” he said. Co-host Jeffrey Gorman made the Axl Rose comparison, to which Steve Gorman added, “I’d say just simply add a private education and a boatload of artistic pretense and there’s our boy.”The drummer also revealed that the band planned on hitting the road this year. “We had every intention of going out this year, because this is 25 years since the first record came out. That was in the books.”

Yes; but this isn't exactly shocking news if you know anything about him. 😉

http://www.jambands.com/news/2015/01/27/chris-robinson-breaks-silence-on-black-crowes-dissolution

Chris Robinson has broken his silence about the Black Crowes’ breakup and his brother Rich Robinson’s accusations that he wanted a larger share of the band. The singer told Billboard that he has a “heavy heart” about the situation, and that “it’s way more complicated than Rich’s public outburst.” Robinson declined to elaborate on the statement, saying:I’m going to keep my personal, private family business personal and private, and I’ll focus on all the other things that are important. The ideas, I think, are more important than the drama. I have too much stuff going on that’s progressive and positive to dig through sordid family history and stuff. I don’t think that’s interesting at all — maybe in a tabloid kind of culture we live in, but I’ve never been part of that. I’ve never dealt with my personal, private life in a public forum, so I’m not going to drag myself though the mire now.The Black Crowes is so much time and it’s so complicated, and then you mix family and whatever that is into it. … To me it’s just sad and it’s disappointing and it’s unfortunate that on the 25th anniversary, whether the band is working or not, that it’s not about the songs and the good times people had at those concerts.Robinson also made it clear that the Chris Robinson Brotherhood is now his main focus, telling Billboard: [The CRB] is my future, you know what I mean? That’s really the only way I can put it. I think it’s been leading this way for a while that the CRB is really where we all want to be and really where we want to put our collective focus. We want to see where that continues. The singer went on to say that his newer group will continue to perform Black Crowes songs that “I’ve written and brought to the band,” before adding that “the CRB definitely has an identity of its own… I haven’t asked any Black Crowes fans to come to a CRB show to sing ‘She Talks To Angels’ to them, you know what I mean?” As previously reported, Rich Robinson announced that the Black Crowes would be calling it quits earlier this month. The guitarist alleged that the move was a result of his brother’s efforts to take a larger share of the band from him and founding drummer Steve Gorman. Gorman then went on to confirm the reasoning during a discussion on his radio show the following day.

Huge fan here. Excluding the ABB and Family bands the BC are probably my all time favorites alongside Rory Gallagher. If they are indeed over with forever would really suck. I disagree with the "The best music of the Crowes is behind them". Their last releases were great and they still had lot's of good music in them. Wouldn't be surprised if there still would be a reunion somewhere in the future. But dissappointed if it has to end with a financial feud like this. Chris Robinson appears to be one greedy hippie. Could understand if Steve and even Rich would earn a bit less but not like this. Time will tell.

great call me to... no news really CR yes...
