Legendary bassist/vocalist Glenn Hughes spoke to Myglobalmind about the progress of the songwriting sessions for BLACK COUNTRY COMMUNION's much-anticipated fourth album, tentatively due next spring. He said: "[Guitarist Joe Bonamassa and I] actually started about six weeks ago as Joe was at my home for about a week of writing. Today [October 25] we are starting another week of writing together where we will finishing writing BCC 4. Then we go into the studio in January and the album will come out May 20th."

He continued: "It's such a focused thing. Joe and I are very excited about BCC 4. Back in April when Joe and I were having dinner in Santa Monica, we talked about making this new album and decided to really go for it as well as how now may be the right time to do the reunion. Certain things work at the certain times. The love and support we have behind BCC are amazing."

Hughes added: "I think all the things that have happened in my life have happened for a reason. Joe is a solo artist and we both love BCC. He is booked out a year in advance as he is a busy guy. I returned to being a solo artist and [my forthcoming solo] CD, 'Resonate', is a return to form for me with another America tour next year. For me, all I want to do for the rest of my life is to write, play, and record music. As long as I'm healthy spiritually and mentally, which I am, that's all that resounds to me. That's all I know how to do in life is to give love and music back to others."

Asked if BLACK COUNTRY COMMUNION will tour to promote the follow-up to 2012's "Afterglow", Glenn said: "It's impossible to pinpoint that yet or if it will happen at all. Joe and I have to find windows where we can tour, or maybe just play select shows behind the album.

"Between you and I, or whoever is reading this [laughs], my life is around playing live with the Glenn Hughes solo band. I have a great band and crew to that drive me to continue to play live and to keep me going. That's what it is all about: to play live in my own band."

In addition to Hughes and Bonamassa, BLACK COUNTRY COMMUNION features drummer Jason Bonham (LED ZEPPELIN, FOREIGNER) and keyboardist Derek Sherinian (DREAM THEATER, ALICE COOPER, BILLY IDOL).

The war of words between Hughes and Bonamassa goes back to September 2012, when Hughes began telling journalists that Bonamassa's solo touring schedule was preventing BLACK COUNTRY COMMUNION from touring and fulfilling its potential. He stated that if the situation didn't change, BLACK COUNTRY COMMUNION's third album, "Afterglow", could be the group's last recording project.

Hughes' first solo album in eight years, "Resonate" will be released on November 4 via Frontiers Music Srl.

"Afterglow" sold 8,500 copies in the United States in its first week of release to debut at position No. 48 on The Billboard 200 chart.

2012's "2" CD from BLACK COUNTRY COMMUNION opened with 8,000 units to land at No. 71.

BLACK COUNTRY COMMUNION's self-titled debut album registered a first-week tally of 7,100 copies to enter the chart at No. 54.

I look forward to this. Hopefully Glenn doesn't throw another fit when Joe can't do a full tour. It looks like they have come to a better understanding as to Joe's involvement in this band.

Glenn Hughes just cancelled his entire European / UK tour:

Exclusive: Glenn Hughes has cancelled his upcoming UK and Europe tour after support band Living Colour pulled out to hit the road with Alter Bridge instead.

Glenn Hughes has cancelled his upcoming European tour – blaming support act Living Colour's decision to pull out and back Alter Bridge instead.

Living Colour were due to play a widespread of string of dates in the UK and Europe as support to Hughes this month and next, starting in Leamington Spa on November 8.

But Living Colour pulled out of the shows with Hughes last month, saying there had been an “unforeseen conflict.” They later announced they would support Alter Bridge on their European dates instead.

Now Hughes has pulled the plug on the entire tour, pointing the finger at an "undermining manager."

According to Hughes' management, Living Colour's new management team "knowingly booked them on to the Alter Bridge tour although they were already confirmed for the Glenn Hughes co-headline tour, which had been on sale since April."

The statement adds: "Alter Bridge and Glenn Hughes have been long-time friends and neither Alter Bridge, their management and agents or even Living Colour’s agent TKO were aware that this was taking place"

Hughes was due to promote upcoming solo album Resonate on the dates.

He says: “I am saddened and disappointed that I will not be able to perform for my UK and European fans as I had originally intended. When I partnered with Living Colour to do this tour, I thought we would be able to make something special happen at these shows.

"Unfortunately, an undermining manager got involved and in turn ruined what would have been an amazing tour. I can’t wait to get back to the UK and Europe to bring the new songs of Resonate to my fans overseas."

Ticket holders for all tour dates will be offered refunds at the point of purchase and are asked to call the venues for more information.

While Glenn may be 100% correct on what happened with Living Colour, it is amazing how things seem to fall apart around him.

I thought the same thing. That's why i posted that cancellation announcement. I can't understand it either since Living Colour are described as "merely" the support band. They used to be big themselves back in the Nineties but since they are only the support act and it's not half of a double bill doing a sudden cancellation than why didn't Glenn Hughes and/or his management just get another support band? Okay, it's very short notice but it's done before. Living Colour's new management team really seem to have screwed him but it's not the first time that things fall apart around him and i guess it won't be the last time either.
