Just tryin' to jump start your weekend...........

Thanks for the post.
Billys got fantastic tone.
Wish my hands were as big as his; he makes his guitar looks like a Hasbro toy!

As one of my buddies said, "The Master of the understated guitar solo"

ZZ Tops first three releases is where it's at.

Everyone has a plan, till you get punched in the face,

First time I saw Billy and ZZTop was in 1974. They opened for Alice Cooper.
Betty Rich and Janie Johansson on drums!!
That is one cool looking guitar Billy has. Wonder who made it. Half and Half. Top half looks like the dots usually seen the neck of many guitars. It's either a Fender Tele custom or a custom built on the Telecaster design. And it has just killer tone.

It's a Bolin custom guitar. Bolin makes guitars to the specifications of the client. Billy is one of their customers and so are some other noted players. They made a Flying V style guitar for Albert King who played a Gibson Flying V for years.

I bought Perfectamundo this week partly in response to this video (Treat Her Right is on the record) and partly after seeing a great AXS documentary "Billy Gibbons and The BFG's Live In Cuba."
I need to get into it more, but after only two listens, I am a little disappointed. More than anything else, it's massively over-produced and you can thank Billy at least partially because he is listed as co-producer. I would have gone for a much leaner bluesy sound than he did here; it's a very tinny, synthetic sound. Reminds me of an 80's commercial ZZ Top kind of mix. Treat Her Right is not the version in the video, in fact it's only half as long, without the Hammond or piano solos.
Not a BAD record, but not what I was expecting either.

This is really good stuff.
