Bill Graham was a huge Allman Brothers Band fan and according to Dickey had a big part of their early success.
Bill Graham booked tons of extremely talented bands and musicians but would from the stage tell the audience the Allman Brothers Band was the best dang band playing today.
At closing night he hugged Duane Allman whom Bill thought was a genius and thanked him for all the wonderful performances.
Then introduced the Allman Brothers as the best of them all. A band which to his ears is playing the finest contemporary music in the country today.
I know it sure seemed that way to me.
