Best Albums by The Meters?

Here's to The Meters getting into the R'n'R Hall of Fame!
Greatest Hits albums notwithstanding, what are the best Meters albums?

Rejuvenation! This album has a bunch of their "hits" - People Say, Africa, Hey Pockey Way, etc. and probably shows off their songwriting chops at their peak. Personally, I never thought any of their studio albums did them justice. They never really got to show off their musicianship and really stretch out. If I were to recommend one album that best represents the band, it would be "Uptown Rulers, Live on the Queen Mary." This recording is from a private party Paul McCartney hosted to celebrate the release of his "Venus and Mars" album. Paul hired the Meters & Dr. John to play his release party and it's obvious that the Meters were thrilled to play to that audience. There are a few issues with the vocal levels on a couple songs (mainly Cyrille Neville's mic- they were a 5 piece for a short time), but their jamming more than makes up for some quiet vocals in the mix at times.
Here's a sample of what you'll hear on Uptown Rulers:

This is dripping with funk!
It's good, but here's the funkiest tune of all!

I think the earliest albums are more pure, more focused on funk. To my ear the later albums added more rock, perhaps to appeal to a wider audience. I like their entire canon of work. Their music often radiates throughout my house.
I hope Art Neville gets well real soon and that the Meters go out on a triumphant world tour celebrating their well deserved induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Check out "The Meters Jam" and "Uptown Rulers". Uptown Rulers is live.
