DTB, without Susan at all.

Duane or Dickey or Eric in 1970

Wilco.
I'd love to hear Derek add his sweetness to the rollicking "California Stars," his exploratory sense to the spacy "Impossible Germany," and his burn to "Handshake Drugs."

DTB, without Susan at all.
LOL, my first choice, althoughI would be OK with a little Susan.
I would also like to hear him with Jimmy Herring or JoHn McLaughlin... will be very cool if he sits in for any of the Herring / McLaughlin tour dates coming up in the fall.

I'd love to hear Derek record with Yo Yo Ma - or the Silk Road Ensemble. I think Derek could contribute to their "world music" approach.

Going to be at Town Hall in November and boy would I love to see that.

Warren Haynes

Jeff Beck.
DTB.
Now that there really cannot be another ARU reunion, I'd love to hear Derek do a project with Jimmy Herring, Oteil, and Jeff Sipe. Add in Count Mbutu and Kofi.

Herbie Hancock,Vinnie C, and a bass player to be named later

Sarah Jarosz
Alabama Shakes
Melissa Reaves
Balsam Range
Rhiannon Giddens

The Tedeschi Trucks Band

I have been thinking that for years, doing something with Yo Yo Ma. That would be pretty sweet.
Yo-Yo Ma, Chris Botti - My Favorite Things
and Derek back with the DTB.
Everyone has a plan, till you get punched in the face,

I'd love to see him doing the new world funk versions of some songs with Aretha Franklin.

The Roots
Yo-Yo Ma
Neil Young
Bill Frisell
Gipsy Kings
Jacky Terrason
Joe Walsh
Jerry Douglas
Outkast
Stufjan Stevens

i'd like to see Derek work with Phil Lesh in the studio.
a bass player with Phil's stature, talent, and range of musical knowledge from classical to jazz to avant garde to rock & blues would be a great pairing with Derek.

Jason Isbell

My choices
1. Dickey Betts & Great southern
2. Santana
3. Dr.John

Is this 1972?
I'd say Chris Stapleton.
Not a full album, but I'd like to see him trade licks with Marcus King
Also, guesting on a song or two for Leon Bridges would be cool. Though I guess Warren is more suited to that. But, for example, Derek on the last song of JJ Grey's Warhorse album was great. I'd like to see him rock some souls like that.

Jeff Beck.
I like that idea.

Can't believe no one has mentioned Art, Zig, Leo & George - the Meters! I know Derek did a Jazzfest club gig with the funky Meters a few years back, but that doesn't count in my book since it's only half the original band. Art is not in the best health these days, but pairing Derek with the Meters could produce something as great as when Lowell George played with them on Robert Palmer's "Sneakin' Sally through the Alley" record.

Medeski, Martin, Wood, Joshua Redman & Derek Trucks

Wait .... there are albums that he isn't on ? 😛

Coming over to the States for the Boston show - psyched 😊
Saw Mclaughlin in Paris and it was fab

I'll second Jason Isbell and raise you Richard Thompson.

Not sure if Derek has any connections with Ray Lamontagne, but that would be an interesting album.

Eric Johnson maybe? Seems like a good fit...

Lettuce. The times I've seen Derek sit in with them, he fits their sound like a hand in a glove. I appreciate Dean mentioning The Meters, but I think their creative force is spent. Lettuce is cranking out good new material right now and they are at the top of their game.
I would also love to see Derek do more Eastern music. I love the Yo-Yo Ma suggestion. If Derek ever really committed to an Eastern music project, it could change the music world as we know it.
