It has been a wonderful here along the Blue Ridge Parkway near Banner Elk, NC. Here are some of my best pics from the last two weeks, all within 20 miles of the house............

The first set.....Wilson Creek Gorge on the backside of Grandfather Mountain viewed from the Beacon Heights Cliff Trail - Blue Ridge Parkway milepost 305;

Beacon Heights Cliffs....this is rare and oh so cool....if the conditions are right...you can see the skyline of Charlotte 86 miles away on the horizon like the Land of Oz....

Derek, that is all so spectacular! I'm hoping to drive up to the Asheville area soon to catch some fall color!

Nice work Derek? I just drove out to Culpepper, VA after hiking my dogs a couple of miles through the First Day at Chancellorsville Battlefield. The colors are not as spectacular as those you captured in North Carolina. I'd say we are 5 - 9 days until peak.

I'll get out most everyday to soak it all in.

The wife and I drove East to eat some oysters at Merroir oyster bar on Sunday. The coastal plain is at least two weeks, maybe three from peaking.

Stunning -- tremendous shots Derek -- northern NE is so much like down your way -- those foliage shots, beautiful -- foliage up here in Vt was bright this year too --
