Audience members claim the first explosion occurred after Grande's last song at roughly 10:40 p.m. "Suddenly everybody started screaming and running for the exit ... We could hear the police and ambulance sirens. It was terrifying," a concertgoer told MailOnline. "There were thousands of people trying to get out at once. They were all screaming and crying. The whole place smelt smoky and burnt."
"We were making our way out and when we were right by the door there was a massive explosion and everybody was screaming," concertgoer Catherine Macfarlane told Reuters. "It was a huge explosion -- you could feel it in your chest. It was chaotic. Everybody was running and screaming and just trying to get out."

sounds like 2 suicide bombers who couldn't get layed if they payed for it.....commentary is my opinion

A father has described seeing "carnage everywhere" in the wake of an explosion at Manchester Arena that left around 30 people, including children and disabled victims, lying on the floor.
The man, named Andy, said he was blown "about 30ft" by a blast that shook the building as he waited to collect his wife and daughter at the end of a concert by US artist Ariana Grande.
He said he later saw panicking families trying to find loved ones in the wake of the incident on Monday night.
He told BBC News: "It's shocking what happened. Just carnage everywhere. There was a good 20 to 30 of them [victims]. Some were young kids, some were disabled people."
Andy said he helped emergency services treat the wounded who were "scattered" by a blast near a box office.
He said: "As I was waiting an explosion went off and it threw me through the first set of doors about 30ft to the next set of doors.
"When I got up and looked around there was about 30 people scattered everywhere, some of them looked dead, they might of been unconscious but there was a lot of fatalities.
"My first thing was to run in the stadium to try and find my wife and daughter.
"When I couldn't find them I looked back outside and the police, fire and ambulance were there and I looked at some of the bodies trying to find my family.
"Luckily they weren't there, I managed to find them outside the arena and got them back to the hotel."

LH thx for the realtime report . I have become un-comfortably numb.

not something i enjoy

Madness. Targeting young kids, A special kind of hell awaits these madmen.

And our world just gets sicker. Hoping............Praying............a concert disaster like this does not happen in the U.S. Unfortunately it may only be a matter of time...........

Concerts, football games, state fairs - any place where crowds are gathered are potential targets. Perpetrators are liable to include - MOST LIKELY to include religious and political zealots of any variety. Think about abortion clinic bombings and the (Atlanta) Olympic Village job (I refuse to name the @sshole).
But CONCERTS, of all events? An event where people gather to celebrate life and enjoy music? What kind of political/religious statement can this possibly make? How can the perpetrator(s) even hope to generate sympathy towards their own cause?
I guess we're accepting the sad possibility/inevitability that these things will occur. At last months Col Bruce finale in Atlanta, attendees had to walk through metal detectors as they entered the venue. This is a very sick sign of the times we live in.
I offer my prayers and sympathy to the victims and families of the concert in Manchester. Not so much for the families of the perpetrators.

Perpetrated by "Radical Islamic Terrorists." Shocking

I am dead serious: I am all for a $5.00 surcharge on every concert ticket, the $5.00 a nominal number..........of course I have no idea what it would really cost, but hopefully not much more than that. That's serious $$$ if it's for an audience of 5,000 or more.
This would pay for ARMED, TRAINED security personnel at every show, and also metal scanners. And I don't mean minimum wage rent-a-cops.
Maybe you think I'm nuts...........hey, whatever. I know, I know........that just does not go with the euphoria and free-spirit atmosphere at a concert, now does it?
It's better than going to ER or the morgue, now isn't it?
This terror thing is the worst problem in the world right now, and it's only going to get worse, especially when we've got a President who exacerbates their hatred.
I want to feel safe when I go to a show, and this Ariana Grande concert in England was certainly not the first time these sickos have targeted a live music event.
~~~We need to act NOW, not AFTER this happens at some U.S. concert event!!!~~~
I hope some pro-active performers with a history of getting behind causes will take this seriously and get behind this idea. Jackson Browne...........David Crosby...............you listening?
I've always had a slight phobia of the big outdoor festival type shows. Unattended backpacks still scare me a little.
I still hate the idea that we should suddenly become scared to go hear music anymore. As far as the metal detectors go - I have a condition where I set those things off. I get patted down and turned inside out at airports. At the Col. Bruce show, I gave a very simple explanation that the "guard" probably couldn't even hear (it was loud) before being allowed to go on in. If I'm going to get the TSA treatment at concerts I might just stop going. But I get what you're saying, Rob.
We dropped 26,000 bombs on 7 Muslim majority countries last year. Interesting that Trump (who I think is awful) is the one who will be exacerbating their hatred of us.
Terrorism is awful. What happened last night was perpetrated by savages. That said, auto accidents in my state will kill more Americans this year than all Americans and Western Europeans killed in terrorism since 2002.
It is awful but I'm not going to lose my rights and freedoms to that level of security.
And what are you going to do after it DOES happen in the U.S.? Just stop attending shows?
I personally think we need to act now, not wait for it to happen first. We can sit on our hands and pretend that we're safe. If we do, then everyone has forgotten New York sixteen years ago.
Try taking a deep breath. Nothing you proposed would have stopped last nights attack.
Not much you can do when these cowards walk among us .
Yeah, I know, I know..........let's all sit back and do NOTHING. Let's just wait until it happens......and THEN get serious.
And you'd have to go into a LOT more detail to convince me that your statement is true. You went into NO detail. Not that I personally have any details of the incident either, other than 22 people died.
rob, lots of things have been done since 911 and continue to be done.
Not only was it a soft target, it was in the softest spot and at the softest time...when everyone is walking out. The bomber didn't even have to attend the show to do what he did.
We've all stood in an orderly line waiting to get through security at a venue to go in, and we've all been a part of the thousands that stream out of the doors when the show is over.
This bombing was in the main foyer that was connected to the entrance/exit that is the walkway to both the train station and a parking lot. Thousands of people streaming one direction, bomber comes through like a salmon swimming upstream, gets as far as he can go, and detonates.
I've seen people walk back against the tide after a show. Matter of fact, one of my buddies just did it after a show where he thought his phone dropped out of his pocket and was under the seat, maybe. We were outside when he went back in. No one stopped him from walking back in and going all the way back to our seats, and this was an 18,000 seat arena.
great point, you now have to wonder why we have gone through all that security to get into an arena when someone can just detonate something before security comes into play. It is really a scary situation we are in.
Living in a crowded place like NYC you can pick almost any street in midtown on a given day putting aside rail stations, malls, clubs, stadiums etc. and do something like Manchester.
Unfortunately this is not preventable and our best defense is being aware of our surroundings and observing others around us in all aspects of our lives.
The above discussion points to new airport security issue. With tight wall of security securing gate areas, the unsecured areas are the ticket and baggage areas. Both have drive up access typically. The terror zone just moved. Put a gauntlet at concert entrances, the zone is the long line leading to.
As a human race we are headed for worse {fill in blank} until we attempt to come to a solution {fill in blank} and this going to concert discussion is a "how to get rid of a flea on a dragon" discussion.
Personally I am seeing one's own safety as a part of our own duty of survival, and not some expected thing given to us by an authority as a packaged service. Kinda like the old days, medieval times. Walk very carefully and with a plan always. In your best interest. Not fear. More determination. So do we cease having fun? No. Do I have blind-@ss stupid fun like the old days? Maybe not.
An aside: don't be a part of the problem. Don't leave your backpack (cooler, etc) unattended at an outdoor festival. Last 4th of July, I got spooked by a backpack that had gone unattended in my vicinity for a long, long time. I found a police officer and told him about it (had to scream in his ear over the band). His response was to just shrug it off. After the crowd left, the pack was still there. I was wrong - there was no problem. I don't know how the cop knew that.
He was in the foyer and, rather than "swimming upstream" against exiting hordes, he was mostly surrounded by people waiting to collect their kids and partners.
But there are lots of "soft" targets where people congregate, free from any security screening, most notably public transport.
Sticking $5 on the price of tickets wouldn't make me feel any safer if I've negotiated more vulnerable scenarios in order to get there.
Having armed security personnel at every show would probably stop me from going altogether.
