I'm not into science fiction. I've never seen another Avengers film. But I saw it today and found it highly entertaining. Very realistic, despite the ton of special effects which really dominate the entire film. Good story, lots of good acting with Robert Downey, Jr., Scarlett Johansonn, Jeremy Renner and Mark Ruffalo. I never got bored for 2 hours 15 minutes. Well done. Love Ruffalo's "The Hulk" character!
Shame that you didn't see the first one as it would have explained some things. But not surprised that it could be enjoyed without it. I enjoy all the Marvel movies as does the whole family. Nice when we can all enjoy movies together. It actually gets me to enter a theater.
If you enjoyed that one then you would likely enjoy the other Marvel movies. Plus they all tie in together in some way to continue a story line. I enjoyed the new Avengers but I would give the edge to the first one. After you see that one, you will understand the new one much more.
