A great unappreciated band in the vein of late era Wet Willie & solo Jimmy Hall.
Alabama boys too.
Johnny Townsend crossed paths with Gregg & Duane while on the south east club circuit & years later played in Gregg Allman & Friends.

Their most well known tune - "Smoke From A Distant Fire":

A tune Gregg & Cher covered on their album - "In For The Night":

"Eights & Aces":

"Gopher Broke":

"Shady Grove":

Wasn't really familiar with them but thanks so much for sharing. One of the best things about this site/forum; people sharing good music that one may not have heard much of before.

I liked Smoke From A Distant Fire. Was a cheating song?

For those who may not know, Danny Toler and Townsend played together for a while.

Their lead guitarist RJ is a buddy of mine and has shown me some incredible stuff.....Add, tons of stories from the old days in Hollywood.....

I certainly know that hit single but never knew the band name!

So many of those smokey 70s hits are equally detached from their artist's name. Brandy? Hooked on a Feeling? Come and Get Your Love?
