My son and I attended an event yesterday and had a blast. We got to meet President Lincoln, Generals Pickett and Grant, two Berdans, some artillerymen, and a few sutlers. The only thing missing was live ammo and a creek (as in Cedars Creek). All the re-enactors were spot on and seemed to really enjoy what they do. My son wants to enlist!

Those civil war re-enactors cam be serious freaks: Read "Confederates in the Attic" by Tony Horowitz, fascinating and hilarious! By page 2 he is describing how the competition for authenticity is so fierce that brass buttons are soaked in urine to get the right look, and that's just one tiny detail. Funny as hell. In search of the ultimate Civil War reliving experience, it's called a "Civil Wargasm". LOL!
