Anders Osborne/Leslie Mendelson @The City Winery, NY 6/28/18

Anders Osborne stopped by the City Winery with Leslie Mendelson (opener) and Ron Johnson (bass for a few) on Thursday Night. Anders is an enjoyable character. The musical equivalent of a quirky and comical book you just can't put down. He resides in his music onstage, swaying, smiling, grunting, and sharing stories of life's experiences. I'm forever a fan, Good stuff.
Leslie has a beauty in both gifts and talent. She joined Anders for the night closing Friend Of The Devil. Ron Johnson joined Anders for the middle portion of his set, solid lines by Ron who may seem familiar to NMA fans.

Anders is certainly one of my top 2-3 favorite currently active musicians.
Not a guitar virtuoso like Derek/Warren but what a songwriter.

My brother is a big Anders Osborne fan and has seen him like two dozen times. I flew to St. Louis to se Bruce Springsteen a couple of years ago and Osborne was playing with his band the night before at the Old Rock House. I made sure to go to the show. I have to admit I was underwhelmed. Decent guitar player but I thoughts the songs were missing something. Nothing stood out to me.
I might give him another chance when he plays the Funky Biscuit in Boca Raton in September.

I love him for his songwriting and delivery. He has a power in his vocals and he puts his heart in whatever format he's playing. Some folks at this show were saying how they love his electric band, I prefer the stripped down acoustic settings. I've seen him with Luther, JJ, & Broussard for their Southern Soul Assembly tour and appreciated his guitar leads and fills, but he's so much more as an overall ambassador of his product. It's the energetic purity of his presentation as a whole. I love an artist for a flair, a distinction, He's his own entity, I find him to be down to earth and relatable. One Man's steak.....
