an off the walll request for Al Paul

Al, We've all heard the story of how Dickey is retired and how he took the news of his brothers death so hard and all. We've not heard it from the man himself. Have you tried to interview him at all recently? I would be fascinated to hear from him about his present and future plans. Who could score this wonderful scoop of an inter view? You can Alan, you can. How about it?? Thanks for considering. Jim aka Redlegs

Hey thanks. Not off the wall at all. I would love to talk to Dickey and i know many people would love to hear from him. I've been in touch and he's not interested just now. You will be hearing something from him soon. Not my deal, so I can't say more, but I'll be waiting to see as well.

Thanks Alan for responding. I thought maybe you had reached out. Now you've got me curious and anxious, we could all use some good news around here. I'm a big fan of your writing (loved Big in China). I hope your family is all well and wish you a great Summer. Jim aka redlegs

Really would love to hear some new music or news from Dickey.
Thanks for piquing our interest Alan.

You're welcome. Sorry I can't say more. Not my place to do so.
Thanks for the kind words Jim. Anyone who's read Big in China gets my attention. That one is so close to my heart.

Dickey's just too hot to retire and hang out on the porch. He's not feeble or unable to play, so why should he retire? Yes a lot of the old ABB band is gone, but a lot of it is still here playing in different bands, Oteil, Marc, Jaimoe, Warren. Dickey knows tons of people, has played with countless people, he can certainly come up with something in addition to his solo band if and when he wants to.
Some musicians realize their calling, like Charlie Daniels said in one of his songs "you can call it Dixie, you can call it rock, but I'll be playin' this music till I drop". And I believe he will. He loves what he does, his band has had different players in it, but he loves playing, he needs to play so he's not going to stop just because of changes in players. That's what evolution is anyway.
Dickey is not different, he needs to play.

You're welcome. Sorry I can't say more. Not my place to do so.

I've told you how much I enjoyed it.

Hoping that "something" might be a guest spot on a tune from the upcoming GA final release.
That'd be sweet.
