an early gregg song and a possible unreleased album?

web surfing tonight i came across this little tidbit called "sunday brought the rain" by the sunshine company that was written by gregg.
i had never heard of it before but in this article http://www.richieunterberger.com/sunshine.html it states that when the sunshine company broke up some of the members formed a band and recorded an albums worth of unreleased material with gregg (including an early version of whipping post! 😮 ) just before he left and joined up again with duane and the newly formed brothers. i wonder if this album is some of the "contractual obligation" tracks he was forced to cut for liberty records or if there is a bunch of unreleased tracks locked away that we've never heard.

That's pretty neat. I wonder if anyone in the know could corroborate any of this with Gregg himself. Based on the timing, I'm guessing it must have occurred right before the Hour Glass recordings.
Everything in Moderation. Including Moderation.

I would love any unreleased music from Gregg.

I wonder if they simply misremember? WP wasn't written
until GA joined the ABB. There is a very early demo of
Not My Cross to Bear on the GA anthology One More Try.
Recorded in someone's living room I think
I don't have the disc in front of me or I'd look up the
Personnel

I think Gregg said Dreams is the only song he had with him when he joined the band. Gregg was the last to join what became the original lineup. Then Gregg wrote several more songs.
But Gregg did say he stayed behind in LA when Duane gave up on Hourglass because of the record contract. The lable thought Gregg was the only one that had a chance of doing anything. They put Gregg in an LA studio and he recorded several songs they gave him including Tammy Wynette's D.I.V.O.R.C.E. Gregg hoped nobody would ever hear those recordings but some eventually got released.
They did two Hourglass albums for Liberty and the lable chose their material. Neither album sold much. Then they did their own album and the lable refused to release it and Duane quit and they broke up. Liberty threaten to sue and said Gregg was all they cared about so Gregg stay and do the next album. I think about 1973 the Hourglass albums were released to cash in on ABB success. Some of the session they did on their own came out of Duane Allman Anthology 1 and 2. Then later some of Gregg's sides were included in an Hourglass CD and the Gregg anthology. I don't have the Gregg anthology. Just his solo albums.
