This is the first airing that I know of. The DVD/Blu-ray comes out on Friday.

Looking forward to this.

It's really good but depressing. I keep flipping back to the Nats/Royals game. I gotta admit it is hard to be reminded of the hard drug struggle. She definitely struggled.

Watched it. Thought it was well worth my time. Learned some things about her journey that I didn't already know. what a sad tragic story. Most of us probably have someone in our lives that travelled a similar road, without the stardom and talent, just the struggle to fit in somewhere.

Willie - that is SO true. Makes me think of a few lost friends thru the years, and that really hits home when i look at their struggles from that perspective. Thanks for shining a little light today.

I watched the second hour, and would like to catch the first. Seeing them on the Festival Express train reminded me i need to watch that again as well.

Well done? I thought it was the best documentary I've EVER seen! Yeah, it was sad, but who didn't know it would be sad going in if they really were to examine Janis the person?

It was honest to a fault. Someone said that every time she walked onstage she carried the torch for the pain of every sad and lonely person in the audience. It was too much...........and she paid the ultimate price for it.

Funny at times, too. Bob Weir talking about the early days, when Janis was having a raging affair with Pig Pen (Ron McKernan) of the Dead. Weir and McKernan shared a house. Weir, "Janis wasn't exactly quiet in bed. I hardly got any sleep at all. ALL night long, it was 'Oh Daddy, Daddy, Daddy'."

Loved every minute of it and cried like a baby when it was over. There's never been another artist who put her whole self out there the way she did. It must have been exhausting. I miss Janis! 🙁

Saw it last night. I knew it was going to be sad. Quite a bit of material was on previous doctumentaries of her. Unfortunately hers was a sad story. I still say she was probably the best rock singer of them all. I love those Big Brother CD traded shows. WOW! It's been 46 years!
