Alvin Youngblood Hart's Muscle Theory @Terra Blues, NYC 11/11/15

This Gent has been at it for 20 years or so and has put out some nice music. This was the 4th time I've had the pleasure to share the room with the man. He touches a few brands of blues and throws in a nice blend of rock classics. He went deep for tunes mixed with originals and classic cuts to fill out his ~4 hour/3 set performance.
In the past I've watched as he's played along with the North Mississippi Allstars and Hill Country Revue at the Highline Ballroom back in 2010. He sat that night solo circled in between dobros, mandolins, banjoes, and acoustics playing some fine folk blues and string band music joined by Luther Dickinson for a song or two and returned the favor that night accompanying the NMA on stage for a couple tunes during their set.
I love his work with the South Memphis String Band and consider myself blessed to have seen them twice in the Village in years past.
This time I caught his electrified unit known as Alvin Youngblood Hart's Muscle Theory for the 1st time last Wednesday at Terra Blues on Bleeker St in the village and loved it just as much as the old school acoustic string band stuff.
He had Bill Blok on bass and Rick Shelton on drums putting the Theory to the Muscle. Nice skills across the stage. I reached out prior asking about taping as I like to document and capture the music I love and Mr Hart responded "as long as you video good", I love the confidence the Man has in his product as much as I love his product.
Here's Alvin's Official home page and a nice interview I bumped into searching some info. Catch some of what he brings to the table. He only has a few dates left in his ongoing tour, but I recommend keeping an ear out for more dates. Fun night of good music.
