I watched this the other night on NetFlix for the first time is 10+ years. Really good movie. Maybe the best representation of what it was really like to be in a band in the 70's. Kate Hudson was so sweet and just perfect in her role - and she reminds me of my wife when we first met. Good soundtrack, and lots of Allman Bros influences. I was born in 1971 so missed the 'party" but sure enjoy the music of that period.

It was bittersweet watching it again. Makes you long for that optimistic, start of life's journey, youthful time. I have a son the same age as the lead character and a daughter graduating next year. Their world is much more complicated and their generation's music basically sucks. It speaks volumes that many of today's kids are still discovering or rocking to the 60's/70's stuff.

Ha! 20+ years ago Smile

She's still hot though. I may have to watch it again with the whole family and tell her that Kate always reminded me of her. I may get some bonus points. Grin

So you have been lucky for over 20 years! That is a good run of luck.

Go for the bonus points and tell her that the ABB community is jealous of such a lucky man. Makes the ladies feel even better!

It's worth a shot as long I promise she doesn't have to listen to a 20 minute guitar solo....she's like Gregg in that regards!

My wife is the same. Puts up with those solos on occasion (as if she has a choice - I'm the driver) but generally she wants a little singing in there. 😉

We went to see Phil Lesh and Friends once with Warren and Jimmy on guitar. Warren sang the first couple of songs followed by a super long jam. She leaned into me and asked jokingly if they will ever sing again. Phil sang the next song and then she leans in and says "Bring Back The Solos.".

Don't think Phil's vocals did much for her.

THAT is funny!

My wife is convinced I gravitate to 'bad singers'. Grateful Dead, Buddy Miller, Driver by Truckers, Railroad Earth....She may have a point!

I love that movie as well, but I have a suspicion that "Vinyl" is a more accurate portrayal of the music business. I would like nothing more than to be completely wrong about this.
