Allmans Debut Record Reviewed in RS by Lester Bangs

I read Lester Bangs a LOT when I was a kid, mostly because I subscribed to Creem magazine. I think this review proves that he really GOT ABB right from the get-go, and I don't think a lot of other critics did. It took them a lot more time.
I stole this from Al Paul, he posted it on Facebook.

Little did any of us know what was to come. Straight and to the point! Thanks robslob and Al Paul!!

I missed this goody the first time around, didtn turn on till LAFE (busy with Tarkus and Chicago Transit Authoritie's first lp ha! that's ok, made up 4 lost time )
This article is so well written, it's like being there... like hearing everything from day one..
thanks 4 sharing
Have a great weekend everyone Ca

thanks for the flashback....really cool

Like a lot of us I was introduced by Ramblin man and some friends gave me the whole story about Duane so I went out and bought Beginnings on 8 track....When DWYNM-INMCTB came on I was totally blown away with everything they offered....Couldn't get enough. Eventually bought all the albums
Yes Dream was and is still my favorite cut and probably my favorite song...it's definitely my favorite ABB tune to play on guitar
That album is a great introduction to a great band

Muscle Shoals?

"The Allman Brothers are a rather heavy white blues group out of Muscle Shoals."
Makes you wonder if he looked at the album cover before he wrote this line.
