Allman Family Revival @ Chicago Theater

Really good show last night. Didn’t check out what the balcony looked like, but main floor was 2/3 full at best. My first time seeing the Allman Betts Band, and have to say, they are a rock solid group of musicians. Since yesterday was Dickey’s birthday, they did Blue Sky and Jessica. Got a Dreams, Statesboro, I’m No Angel (nice to hear Duane solo on that one) among others. Jimmy Hall did Keep on Smilin’ (I love that song), and Eric Gales and Joanne Shaw Taylor really impressed with their chops. I’d never seen either of them before. Larry McCray and JD Simo sat in on a few and played their asses off. All in all, a very entertaining night of music - surprised the crowd wasn’t bigger.
In my opinion, it’s great to see the sons of these legendary musicians carry on their father’s legacies. The last concert I’d been to before last night was Jason Bonham back on Nov. 1st. I’d really like to see a promoter put together a summer tour with all offspring bands - Allman Betts Band, Jason Bonham’s Led Zeppelin Experience, Ziggy Marley and Dweezil Zappa on one bill would be a great start

Glad you got to see the tour before it had to stop for Covid issues. I wish all a speedy recovery I also agree the artists on the tour are some of the best around. Jimmy Hallis just great and his vocals are something to talk about. Joanne Shaw Taylor is one bad ass player as is Eric Gales!
Like you I'm so glad to see the son's of the Gregg, Dickey and Barry carry on!

Yeah I have been really surprised that these shows have sold so slowly. For the Boston show I went too there were a lot of tickets in the balcony still unsold day of the concert. The orchestra was packed though.
I checked some of the other cities and it seemed to be the same story in that only about half the tickets were sold by day of the show.
The Boston show was one of the best concerts I have seen in the last 10 years and I have attended a fair amount of shows.
Hopefully this does not discourage Devon from organizing these concerts in the future as I am sure is a lot of work and expense to include all the special guests.
