Allman Betts Band

Well, just watched them do a live stream online and they were awesome!! Both great singers & players, along with their band as well. They played alot of their own tunes, plus a few Allman Brothers tunes as well. Closed with a killer version of Purple Rain!! When live shows do come back, I hope I can see them in person at some point!! They're keeping the legacy alive!!!!

I like them too, but must admit I wish Devon sang less.

A very good 1 set show filled with mostly original tunes. Only covers were Purple Rain, Midnight Rider and Jessica --- a good thing to these ears bc their originals are what keeps me coming back.
Berry Oakley was missing tonight due to a family emergency I believe and Devon's bassist from other projects Justin Corgan filled in. He's a good player but has nowhere near the presence of Oakley and did not sing.
Between having a new guy and just trying to play a live show in an empty studio room, the energy was a bit low but the musicianship remained superb overall.

I saw them at a drive-in in Yarmouth Ma. last Thursday.
They sounded great.
They also played the Cheshire Fargrounds in Swanzey NH Saturday.

plqmule,
Question about your drive in experience. How good were fans about keeping within their zones the entire show?
I recall Devon say in a recent interview that by the end folks were piled up against the stage, to which the kind of dorky interviewer said, "that's cool".... No dude, it's not. Especially if they aren't wearing masks.
Wife and I have 2nd row parking for Umprhey's McGee in CHI soon and do not want to be in that position.
Thanks

I didn't see anyone leave their car area in Yarmouth.
Here's some pictures of Yarmouth.

Afternoon show in Swanzey NH.

Listening to the new album as I type. God, Devon’s voice just grates me the wrong way. Even more on record than live. Just the need to over enunciate the trite lyrics. Enjoying the non-Devon vocal songs a lot more.

I am happy for that band but I just can't get in to them. The slide player is very good but when Duane and Devon sing it's a huge turn off.

Devon is not Gregg.
He is a good singer, and devoted to the music. There's nothing wrong with his singing. He's got his own voice and his own style as he should have.

There's a couple of nice sounding recordings
of the Swanzey NH late show on E-tree.

Just finished listening to the new record. Fantastic effort all around. Really impressive and such a wonderful feeling to know there are bands still out there making real, tight music like this. Can't wait to hear more of these tunes evolve live.
For those of you on the fence do yourselves a favor and give it a spin.
And for those of you less than enamored by Devon & Duane's singing, at a minimum listen to Doctor's Daughter by Berry. It's unlike anything you'd expect to hear from a band like this. Great tune. More Berry, please!!!!

I completely agree! The new album is really good.

Well crafted songs, up average guitar playin' and soulful singing. I have nothing to complain about. One of the best releases in 2020 so far.

I played the CD on good ol' Sunday morning and loved it - a huge
improvement over the debut. Minor complaints: maybe 2 songs too
long and the instrumental sounds like `High Falls', but other than that
I've nothing to complain about. I particularly enjoyed Duane's tunes.
I agree, this has been a banner year for new music and this disc is
right up there with the best of them.

DM - You've had solid picks and good taste going back a long time here and the ABB listserv. I am now officially intrigued.
Been listening to the new one from Arlo McKinley a lot the last week, and now I add this one to the purchase list.

Love the new album and a great live band, just hope they are in it for the long haul.
