Sure wish I was in Austin last weekend.  Old Guys Rule!!  (Escovedo is 71 now).  I love that he's got cello and violin in his band but it still ROCKS!

Thank you for posting this. Very special for 2 reasons:

1. I've posted a few Chuck Prophet videos on this site before. While being an excellent guitarist himself, his band has a GREAT slide player named James Laprato. Go to Youtube and check some of their live videos out (Live versions of "Storm Across the Sea" and "Summertime Thing" have great slide). They also do some beautiful harmony leads - search the song "Willie Mays Is Up At Bat."

2. Chuck Prophet was recently diagnosed with lymphoma. He says it's not fatal, but this is a lifelong rock'n'roller maybe in his 60s who probably doesn't have health insurance, just an Econoline van. It's cool to see him looking triumphant.

If any of you are looking for good current rock and have felt at a loss in the search for soulful songs with kickass guitar, check out Chuck Prophet, esp the live stuff on Youtube.
