Albums With Not One Bad Song

Posted by: @robertdee@muletrane Yes I really was pleased with the first Govt Mule album. Mother Earth probably my favorite but all good songs.
Took me a bit of time to warm up to that album because since Warren is in the band I was expecting an Allman-related album, not what I would consider kind of hard rock. But I agree, it is a great album.

A few more that came to mind
Rolling Stones - Sticky Fingers
Neil Young - Rust Never Sleeps
Ronnie Earl - Language of the Soul
Someday, everything's gonna be different
When I paint my masterpiece.

We All Have To Go Back To Mother Earth!! Allen Woody, Gregg Allman, Butch Trucks, Duane Allman, Berry Oakley have already gone back. I'm 74 so I'm getting closer by the day!
My favorite track from the first Gov't Mule album. But they are all good.
Jaimoe named the band. And in the beginning Warren said they were going for a Creme, Jimi Hendrix thing. The power trio thing they thought in 1994 was a lost approach to rock and roll.

Some great choices. Tommy Bolin's "Teaser" sure is a winner! Who's Next and Sticky Fingers too.
I'll throw in Genesis' "Selling England by the Pound," the Jeff Beck Group first album and "Blow by Blow," and Wilco's "Summerteeth."

Pink Floyd - Wish You Were Here
What about The Wall?
I like the Wall but don’t love it, I’d rather play Meddle, Animals & DSOTM

This topic is very subjective, as said. So, To Me,only, ones where I like every song:
Aqualung
First Dire Straits
Dark Side of Moon
Blood On The Tracks
my Allmans that fits is Fillmore, so technically not an entry
Big Pink
American Beauty
Back In Black
Stills first
John Barleycorn
Harvest
Waylon This Time
Bonnie Sweet Forgiveness
Sgt Pepper
more.................

I'll add one I'm listening to at the moment
The Black Crowes "Croweology"
"Is that a real poncho or is that a Sears poncho?"

Not mentioned...
then Play On- Fleetwood Mac
First 2 by Bad Company
Pronounced through Street Survivors- SkynyrdMac
maybe a few 70's ZZ Top albums?

Good call, Blowin Free is really an all time most adored song
McCartney, his first one - front to back, in my craw for eons & Linda’s photos are just as good
Paul just turned 79, & happy belated mate🎵🎶🤙

I don't see Van Morrison's Moondance on here. That album was practically issued to everyone in my family. It's perfect, and the 5.1 Blu Ray audio of it in the deluxe reissue is the greatest album I own in terms of sound quality.
Also, Tom Petty Wildflowers

The Black Crowes "Croweology"
I was actually gonna say Shake Your Money Maker. Croweology is awesome but I would consider that a greatest hits album. I think Luther D is on it from NMAS on a song or two. Splitting hairs perhaps.

Yes Moondance by Van Morrison is a great album start to finish.
I bought three of Les Dudek's albums in the mid 1970's because I noticed his name playing second lead guitar on Ramblin' Man and acoustic guitar on Jessica on Brothers and Sisters. His three Columbia albums I thought were good on all tracks. They didn't sell much and are largely forgotten now. Here is one track I like a lot.
And here is Les more recently playing Ramblin'Man and bragging about playing with Dickey on the song.
Dickey playing Ramblin'Man. I remember seeing this on TV in 1984 and at the beginning of Dickey's ending solo his necktie flops down over his guitar and he finally had to stop and move it off the strings so he can play. He looks pissed but recovers and let's go with a blistering finish to the solo.

Leon Russell and the Shelter People

So many good ones. I recently listened to Alone Together and Aztec 2 Step, both great.
!st ones that came to mind
American Beauty and Workingman's Dead
Blood on the Tracks
Grinderswitch Honest to Goodness
I can go on forever, but I'll stop here

Some great Choices by you all. There were a lot that were right there, but one or two songs were kind"meh".
This is all subjective to ones ears, so I am sure with mine, some will think "What is this guy hearing?!?!?"

Christ Whitley-Dirt Floor

Tommy Bolin live at ebbets field 1974
Rainbow Finyl Vinyl

CSN-Demos
An Evening with the Allman Brothers Band: First Set

Everyone has a plan, till you get punched in the face,

Oh man, we had a firepit night last week and I played that "Ebbets Field 1974" disc for a pal who had never heard it. He was absolutely blown away!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Good! Glad to see people getting turned on to that. I think I was blown away when I first heard it too. I remember REALLY intently listening to this the whole way thorough when I first got it. So impressed song to song what he was doing. I know this is subjective and ones opinion , but I feel this is one of the best live recordings of a guitar player showcasing his skills on pretty much every song. I cant recall since then being that taken by an entire performance from a guitarist.
"You Know You Know" is such a great choice for an opener.
Everyone has a plan, till you get punched in the face,

The Marshall Tucker Band
And even though it is a live album I will mention the Gregg Allman Tour and suggest it and LAFE should be considered as both contain quite a bit of material that was not previously released on a studio album. That AND they are also REALLY GREAT albums.

Quite a bit, yes but I just meant an actual studio album. Plus you probably remember that discussion has been had about live albums. Blackie confirmed that Live Bullet by Bob Seger is the greatest live album ever. 😎

ZZ Top - Tres Hombres
Another one I missed. YES. There probably are many I forgot.

This is hard because there are albums I really want to list, but must admit one song I could skip. Layla is that album. Out of respect I won't say the song I don't prefer. I am 1000% on all the other songs.
I should add to my list:
Santana (first)
Who's Next
The Who was a tough one, I love Tommy, Leed's, but Next is thru and thru great.

I respectfully submit the following for your dining & dancing pleasure.
BOC - Secret Treaties
Mahogany Rush - Strange Universe
Peter Frampton - Frampton
Zappa/Mothers - One Size Fits All

If you like to venture into different genres from time to time, this album from 1961 by Flatt and Scruggs titled Foggy Mountain Banjo has all good tracks. But they are instrumental. Real smooth 5 string banjo playing from Earl Scruggs.

I'd like to toss a few more in the ring.
Joe's Garage Act I II III FZ's masterpiece
Close to the Edge
ELP's Trilogy
The Amboy Dukes Tooth Fang & Claw
