Sometimes when a documentary doesn't have the rights to use licensed music, the filmmakers will create imitation music for the soundtrack. I'm guessing this is just a "Dreams" imitation track, using the music without actually legally using the music. I don't recognize it as anything properly released by anyone.

I listened to it last night & also thought it was a variation of "Dreams".

Hi, thank you for responses which may have by the same folks who responded when I pasted this question on another site. Their view was that it was a variation of 'Dreams' which I get but I wonder why a documentary on ABB could not include samples of their music...doesn't make sense. I don't actually think it sounds much like dreams myself, but I guess folks hear different things.
Thanks again

The documentary was done independent of the Allman Brothers Band, none of the band members are involved (correct me if I'm wrong, I have skipped this one). It costs money to license music from a giant like Universal Music, even if the filmmakers were given approval by the label and artists. Think of anytime you hear a fake James Bond theme in a movie, cartoon, TV show (Cannonball Run comes to mind): the James Bond film producers will never license the actual theme outside of their own films, so filmmakers get creative and arrange something that evokes the music. Also, the recent Jimi Hendrix film wasn't allowed to use any of his songs or recordings for the film.

As tasteless as the title is, they could have been even more tasteless by using this for the companion LS documentary. These off-label documentaries wouldn't be out if the bands took care of this for themselves. Bummer.
