AC/DC Frontman Brian Johnson Ordered by Doctors to Stop Touring Immediately

AC/DC will postpone the remainder of their U.S. tour as frontman Brian Johnson battles hearing issues. According to a press release, Johnson has been advised by doctors to stop touring immediately due to the rise of total hearing loss. The band’s tour was set to roll through Atlanta on March 8, however that has been postponed along with the final 10 dates of the tour. A press release says the dates will be made up later in the year, likely with a guest vocalist.

So at this point they are without Malcom Young, Phil Rudd and now Brian Johnson. Time to call it quits if Johnson can't come back.

Bummer. I was psyched to listen to them exclusively for a couple weeks and then hit the show.

It is ironic that the tour was called "Rock or Bust"

Rock or Bust Lyrics.

Hey yeah
Are you ready

We be a guitar band
We play across the land
Shootin' out tonight
Gonna keep you up alrigh

You hear the guitar sound
Playin' nice and loud
Rock you to your knees
Gonna make your destiny

In rock we trust, it's rock or bust
In rock we trust, it's rock or bust
In rock we trust, it's rock or bust
In rock n' roll we trust, it's rock or bust

We hear the siren scream
It sounds so lean to me
We love to shake it down
Know what we're talkin' bout

We turn the amps up high
The crowd's gonna hit the sky
We play it fast and loose
Because this night we're gonna pull a fuse

In rock we trust, it's rock or bust
[cut]

I guess I will be doing something else on 4/4. I hope it is a temporary issue.

some buds are truly bummed, had 6th row for tomorrow nite in ATL. Was poking around TB & StubHub myself the last coupla days and thankfully didn't find anything to my $ limit. Would have liked to see them one more time. say what you will, but them old dudes were still doing it. the detractors prolly haven't lived a fraction of the life those dudes did.

Rock or Bust , Rust or Bust.

Better to blow out yer ears, than it is to rust...

They outta grab some Aussie from a cover band and give him his 10 shows of fame!! or even better, grab a Brian & a Bon and give the fans dueling era's.

Rock & Roll Might Just Be Noise Pollution When You Don't Wear Hearing Protection For All Those yEARS

It's just a rock & roll, huh? whadidyasay???

I find this interesting because the couple next door to me saw AC/DC only last September. She told me that it was the LOUDEST show that she had ever been to and that her ears rang for days afterward..............EVEN THOUGH IT WAS IN A BASEBALL STADIUM (SF Giants).

Now think about what that must be doing to someone who is being hit by those decibels at close range.............night after night...................

The AC/DC website says:

"Tomorrow's show in Atlanta through Madison Square Garden in New York, NY in early April will be made up later in the year, likely with a guest vocalist."

I am torn. I have tix for an April show. I definitely want to see them one more time. But to me, "them" is Angus and Brian.

But to me, "them" is Angus and Brian.

And to others it is Angus and Bon.

I've seen the band 4 or 5 times, never with the new guy, Brian.

Personally i think they shouldn't finish this tour with a guest vocalist or at least offer people who do not want to see a Brian Johnson replacement show a full refund (which won't happen because i guess that's rather risky financially). But with only Angus left they should call it quits. Bummer, but the propper thing to do. In the above list there's mention of the lead singers of The Answer and Airbourne. Maybe these "Young Guns" could nail those lyrics but it still would have the feel of a tribute band. If 'DC decide to finish the tour with another singer and with full agreement of everybody involved (including Brian's blessing) my suggestion would be Jimmy Barnes.

Get well Brian!

The Mule used Myles Kennedy for their AC/DC MYE set a year ago and while it was lots of fun, he was a bit screechy. He would occasionally come down a bit and sing in a more normal, but still loud voice which I found better. He could fill in, but could use some further thinking on what register to sing in.

I'm with Dutch, Jimmy Barnes would be a great fit.

Only one problem here: Bon Scott has been dead for 36 years. That's a long, long time.........longer than Bon was even alive.

While Brian Johnsons's health is the utmost priority,
this is a bummer, had tix for Buffalo later this month, was taking the whole family.
My kids were stoked as it was part of their Chirstmas present.
Not sure yet how I feel about a fill in at those ticket prices.
oh well,
get well Mr.Johnson

I would go for Lzzy Hale and keep my tix for the rescheduled MSG show. That gets my vote if they can't find a way to protect Brian's hearing.

me and my friends are just pissed. stubhub seems to be refusing our wishes for a refund despite ac/dc saying you can get a refund at the place of purchase. even after being directed to ac/dc statement stubhub says the rules are refunds only for cancelations. they do not refund for lineup changes or rescheduled dates. unbelieveable. I wouldn't have paid that amount of money for a ticket to see angus and cliff with some other guys. it was already sorta stretching it when brian was there

You must not be talking about stubhub. Stubhub refunded all orders whether the buyer or seller wanted it done and that is a fact.

I am holding on to my MSG tickets until I see what shakes out. I can't imagine who they would get to fill in. At the prices they are charging and the arenas are sold out - It would have to be someone big. Bruce Dickinson comes to mind but Maiden is on tour. Rob Halford? I don't know. Interestingly the remaining European dates have not been postponed. I have to believe in this day and age, with the technology available there has to be some sort of hearing protection Brian can use. I think they are taking time off to figure that out.

Yes without giving either party an option against their own policy.

Seems as though it's due to motor sports(car racing) more so than the touring, according to Mr J.
I'm sure the both will take their toll w/o proper protection.
