Nine Allman Brothers Band albums will be remastered and released on vinyl in a new set this summer. Best of all, they will be housed in a wooden peach crate.
The 15-LP collection will include an expanded two-record edition of The Allman Brothers Band; Idlewild South; the double At Fillmore East and Eat a Peach; Brothers and Sisters; Win, Lose or Draw; the two-LP Wipe the Windows, Check the Oil, Dollar Gas; Enlightened Rogues; and the three-record Live at Ludlow Garage: 1970, a new concert album.
The set, which includes replications of each album’s original artwork, will be available on July 22.
The group’s 1969 debut includes the original 1969 stereo mix and the later stereo mix found on 1973’s Beginnings compilation. Live at Ludlow Garage: 1970 offers the debut of a complete concert from arguably the Allmans’ strongest period. One song from the show, “In Memory of Elizabeth Reed,” showed up on last year’s 45th Anniversary Super Deluxe Edition of Idlewild South.
The records were remastered from the original analog tapes on 180-gram vinyl and will be available separately. The limited-edition set (only 500 were made) also includes an amplifier-shaped USB stick featuring all of the albums as downloadable 44.1kHz/16-bit uncompressed AIFF audio files, four posters, magnets of all the LP covers, guitar picks and buttons featuring art or photos from each album, a custom deck of playing cards, a trucker hat and a turntable mat. The peach crate itself leaves room for other LPs.
On the same day, high definition digital audio (192kHz/24-bit and 96kHz/24-bit) downloads will be available for all of the albums. The individual vinyl LPs and the limited-edition peach crate collection are both available for pre-order now.

I was surprised it took this long for someone to start a thread about it.
I don't buy vinyl, so I'll pass, but this still seems like an incredibly steep price (that's $44/album, plus a box of crap). I might upgrade my Win, Lose or Draw and Wipe the Windows if the sound is that much better (Win, Lose, or Draw has a pretty muddy mix).

I wonder if the remix was done on analog gear. They said "from tapes" which is promising, but no discussion on technique used. Digitally mixed vinyl has no real value. Analog high quality vinyl release would be exciting, depending on mix. I see no need to remix Fillmore honestly. Tom Dowd did fine. Brothers and Sisters is kinda bad, as previously discussed.

About Direct Metal Mastering (DMM)
Direct Metal Mastering (DMM) is an analogue audio disc mastering technique jointly developed by two German companies, Telefunken-Decca (TelDec) and Georg Neumann GmbH. The audio signal is cut directly to a copper disc whereby the traditional analogue audio disc master cutting process is cut into a lacquer-coated aluminum disc. The key advantage to DMM is the copper master disc can be plated to produce the required number of stampers using a one-step process. Lacquer master discs require electroforming a master (“father”), “mother,” and then stampers, in what is known as the traditional “three-step process.” The DMM copper disc serves as the “mother,” which bypasses the silvering process and two electroforming stages, thus reducing the risk of introducing noise that can be generated in the traditional lacquer master process. Same here. News has been on homepage since 2 days. A few years ago it would immediately be heavily discussed "breakin' news" but nowadays there's not even a storm in a tea cup regarding these new releases. Sure has become quiet on HTW.
I personally think the box looks cool but indeed overpriced. Spare room to store other ABB releases is a nice thought. Bonus items partly interesting (posters and turntable mat) but generally not interesting enough to consider purchasing due to the steep price. Might gonna add 2 or 3 seperate releases to my vinyl collection but geezzzzzzzzzzzzz how many times can you re-re-re-re-re-issue LAFE, EAP & B&S?
I ordered my crate, since Kevin Reeves' work on The Fillmore and Idlewild South sets sound so good. Sure, I have original records going back to 1969, but there's room in the crate for them, should I decide not to sell them.
This was my first experience with learning that USPS Priority is based on weight AND distance.
A guy in Colorado is paying the least for shipping, while I'm in the middle in Tennessee, and the guy in Ohio says he's paying $85.00 for shipping !?!?!?
Confident since these are using the same process as the Stones boxes, they'll sound just as good.
Otherwise, I'm out $464.00.
Funny, I left here, went back over to the Hoffman forums, and there's a guy offering $30.00 for the USB stick. My son said they should sell the stick separately, and he's proven right again.
I'm looking forward to IT, because I have two setups.
My vintage for vinyl, and my HT for digital. With the stick, I'll be able to hear these new versions on both. Another advantage.
