It's always fun to spot Allman Brother's Band references in pop-culture! Last night I was watching ABC's comedy, "Fresh Off the Boat". For those unfamiliar, the show is about an Asian family who has relocated from Washington, D.C. to the Orlando area (set in the 90's).

In last night's episode, the parents were telling their children how they got their American names.

The mom's flashback began with a shot of her as a teenager wearing headphones and listening to "Ramblin Man". She has a copy of the Brothers and Sisters LP on her lap. She reveals that she chose her name - "Jessica" because it was the title of "that great Allman Brothers song from the 70's". She then adds, "I just love southern rock instrumental jams!".

I hope Dickey gets a check in the mail for this! 😉

Well if Dickey doesn't get a cheque in the mail , any sales of the song or the album because of the PR from the show should bring in some $$ for him .

I do wonder who owns the publishing rights for the ABB.

A couple of weeks ago on Tim Allen's show "Last Man Standing" also on ABC, Tim Allen's Character tells his wife she looks like a roadie for the Allman Brothers. Later she tells one of her daughters, "I look like a roadie for the Allman Brothers". The daughter says, "The Who?" and of course the mother says, "No, The Allman Brothers". 3 mentions. I love that show.

On Blue Bloods at the end of the show they seem to always have a Sunday diner together (the whole family) One of them was getting ready to say grace and the grand daughter pipes in saying" No because your prayers are longer than any song the Allman Brothers do! I lost it!

Jeanne watches that, we heard that comment and burst out laughing.
