I've spoken about this before - the night before the legendary phantom 6-26 FE late show. The band played 2 shows on 6-25. Is it possible they were never recorded as is supposed to be the case for the 6-26 late show? Also, what about the 6-26 early show? Those three shows must have been top shelf and could none of them exist?

I was at the early show that night, nothing special there, in fact most people around me thought it was pretty pedestrian.

Just a boring old Fillmore East show with the original lineup, eh? Then why I am I eating my heart out over here wishing I could have been at any one of those shows?

having spent more than a little time listening to all available boots, I will say the set list did not get mixed up a whole lot in 71, and there were a few pedestrian shows. There is no band that hits the high every night, some just start higher and stay higher (tfffffffffff.......ahhh)

Well, unfortunately having The J Geils Band on before you kicking serious ass then the Brothers came on and were good, but nothing great.

I suspect if tapes did exist the shows wouldn't be so legendary and Butch wouldn't be telling the same story in every interview.

Heresy, I know.

For sure, yep, off night. . . look at Duane, seems kinda out of it, ho hum . . . check out Berry, same old tired riffs, meh, think I'll go have a smoke . . .

Would trade every note of ABB I ever heard incuding Watkins Glen, to have been at even the soundcheck in 71, anywhere.

What does Butch say about the famous holy grail show or the last show at the Fillmore East?

I know how in one interview I read he said how the music from the Fillmore East show that was used for Eat a Peach was not that good or the band was not at their best, which I did not understand?
