ABB 23yrs ago 5-3-1994

I always remember this date for some reason... 😉
They also did a radio release show where they talked about the album. Does anyone else remember hearing that? I would love to listen to that again.

Everyone has a plan, till you get punched in the face,

Warren's all-time killer tune with the ABB in my opinion.
Woodstock rocked and the show that thy did later that night in Boston is an absolute killer also.

Cmulre- totally agree. Warren's solo on BWIAB is his "Chuck's solo on Jessica" moment. Just nails it. I love the one he did at Walnut Creek in 94 (7/1/94?) the Woodstock and Grestwoods show that night are two of the best this lineup played. (8/14/94?) The Sailing Cross The Devil's Sea from Greatwooda that night is my all time favorite performances and it's night even close. Both shows are top notch. "We ought to go out and warm up more often!"

Also hoping someday we get to hear the outtake they did of Rocking Horse for the BWIAB album. I don't care that Dickey's not on it and that it's probably incomplete. Such a shame the Dicley/Warren lineup never did this song.

I went to the Great Woods show later that same night and remember it to be one of my favorite shows from that time period. Dickey and Warren were really powerful together back then. Thanks for posting that.

I loved and miss this lineup. My favorite no doubt. Great chemistry between Warren and Dickey. Would love to have heard more original stuff, but hey things changed. 😉

Did it make you want to cry and wipe away tears with your left hand? 😉

And Rocking Horse sucks.

Lee once told me WIAB was his 3rd favorite all-time album, with Soulshine being his favorite song (not only on that album but favorite alltime ABB tune). Don't buy his sarcasm, he said the only thing that would have made WIAB better would have been had they included the version of Rockin Horse with Gregg singing.

And Mule -
While I appreciate the fact that I am on lead vocals more then most, what about the reggae version? Do I get to play a ukulele or a banjo on that?

I have some weird Rocking Horse Stories. Many involve Sang for some reason.
Rockford, IL 2004. We just saw one of the best ABB shows ever the night before in Rosemont, IL. The next night they played in some field at a festival. We were all down front. This drunk chick is behind me and starts groping me. Brofan (remenber him?) was looking at her and I thought he was going to punch her. I look to my left and Sang is laughing his ass off.
So they go into Rocking Horse, which is my cue to leave. I figured I could take refuge in the restroom until it was over. I couldn't escape it. I swear to God it went on for like 45 minutes. I had nowhere to go. It was so bad even Jaimoe left the stage and got his drum tech to fill in. It was that bad.
I had already purchased the Instant Live so I waited in line for the f***ing thing which I gave away.
The only saving grace of this was that when we to the local watering hole outside of the venue there were two hot chicks waiting in line to get in.
And they were making out.
True story.

Yeah I agree.
One of my fav slide solos from him live , and always will be, is from Blue Sky, An Evening With.
He kicks it in at the 3:36 mark with the slide and just starts grooving . Listen to the notes he hits between 4:55-5:00, it gives me chills every time.

Oh yeah, speaking of early Warren, the solo on "Dreams" from Play all Night is just stellar. 😛 😛

For me this was the resurgence of the Allmans. We saw them at the Spectrum in '89, but the energy just wasn't there.
The H.O.R.D.E. tour started their return to the top of the Jam Band scene. Guess we owe a debt of gratitude to Blues Traveler, think what you want about them, but they're kind of responsible for the awesome jam band scene we enjoy today. Those tours laid the groundwork for all the festivals we all enjoy.
