Martin Scorcese wasn't the only one shooting The Last Waltz. Bill Graham had a camera shooting in black and white and caught Dylan and The Band doing "Hazel" from Planet Waves.
Interesting article...........I never knew that Dylan nearly never performed at the show.
Hey Rob-I'm lucky enough to own The Complete Last Waltz,the entire show as filmed by Graham.In addition to many additional performances and some really interesting Garth rooted blues jams the angles of the film and the emphasis on the musical sound is distinct.The black and white filming is perfect too.
You hear Garth and Richard more prominently and Robbie's guitar is less up front and integrated more reasonably into the mix.You get warts and all,before the concert was completely remixed and overdubbed to give you the illusion popularly called The Last Waltz.The Complete Last Waltz is the real thing,as it actually occurred.And dig Bob's version of Hazel,Muddy doing Caledonia,a bunch more Joni,Neil,Eric,and lots more.Sadly,Richard was not in great health and his singing clearly suffers,although his playing is excellent.Garth is mindblowing.
