a non-ABB note - Fantastic Negrito, anyone?

Saw him last night at Saturn in Birmingham. Absolutely incredible show. A very dynamic performer, great band, and musically it's damn near a complete history of black music from early work chant songs thru today's more urban music scene.
I strongly recommend catching him if he comes your way!

I love him. Last Days Of Oakland is awesome.
Sounds like he puts on a great show.

Amazing. Saw him a month ago at Bluesfest in Chicago.
Probably the best set I've seen this year.
Last Days of Oakland has been in heavy rotation since then. Amazed by the playing, production, and his voice. I still get chills listening to it.

Mallard - an incredible show. Not a 2.5 hour ABB or Mule type, only about 75 minutes. But highly energetic doesn't even begin to describe it.
He has a new recording out, too - "Please Don't Be Dead." A bit more rock n roll but I'm liking it a lot, too.

Thanks I just ordered it after reading this.

I just saw him at City Winery in Nashville earlier this week and thought he put on a great show too. Had never heard of him before but I guess he's a Grammy winner. Shows what I know.

Thx for the intro, was unaware of this - new blood, excellent!
PS - love at first listen, just ordered his 2018 "Please Don't Be Dead" the song "Plastic Hamburgers" sold me on the spot. Hearing some Howlin Wolf, Capn Beefheart-ish maybe, whatever it is it's the real article!
