A Little Late Night Dickey

It's great that we still have plenty of Allman Brother connected bands to listen too BUT I can't help but constantly think about Dickey .

Nice early take of Crazy Love, which came out the next year -- these guys did the ABB as well as the ABB did in 1979 in many respects

The three Capricorn albums these guys did -- DB&GS (1977), Atlanta's BDn '78, and EnRogues 1979 -- is a fine singular body of work -- southern boogie, the ballads etc -- love the Good Time Feeling>EReed segue

I love "Goodtime Feeling" too Stephen. Songs like"Ramblin' Man", "Long Time Gone", "Goodtime Feeling" and others really set the standard and were the template for what would become known as Southern Rock IMHO. What an obvious influence on Marshall Tucker, the Outlaws, Blackfoot. Sometimes it seems as if Dickey consciously stopped writing in that vien.Hell I haven't heard one thing in so-called Modern Country as good as the trio of afore mentioned Dickey penned gems.(Although I'm a fan of Blackberry Smoke.) Now I suppose it could be argued that Toy Caldwell was as good or perfected that particular type of song, but there can be no doubt who he looked to for inspiration. Pops we may disagree from time to time, but dayum you post some good sh*t. Thanks for this one.
