Seems like it should have been an all day fest and why didn't they have it on a weekend? Either way, awesome line-up.

Maybe some Allman members are the "additional performers will be confirmed in the coming weeks"

All four of the core surviving members of the Grateful Dead, as well as many others, will play with various projects at Dear Jerry: Celebrating The Music of Jerry Garcia. The event, which is set to take place on May 14 at Merriweather Post Pavilion in Columbia, MD, will feature performances by Bob Weir, Mickey Hart, Billy & The Kids, Communion (Phil Lesh, Stu Allen, Grahame Lesh, Ross James, Alex Koford and Jason Crosby), Widespread Panic, The Disco Biscuits, Bruce Hornsby, Eric Church, moe., Railroad Earth, Buddy Miller, David Grisman, Greensky Bluegrass, Jimmy Cliff, Yonder Mountain String Band, Jorma Kaukonen, Los Lobos, O.A.R. and Trampled by Turtles. Additional performers will be confirmed in the coming weeks.

Producer Don Was, who has put on numerous tribute shows in recent years, will serve as the event’s musical director. The concert will also be filmed, and there are plans to release a movie in the future.

Tickets for Dear Jerry are set to go on sale at 10am ET on Friday, March 13. A portion of the proceeds from the show will benefit the Rex Foundation.

As previously reported, the core four surviving members of the Grateful Dead will team up with Trey Anastasio, Bruce Hornsby and Jeff Chimenti for a three-night Fare Thee Well run at Soldier Field in Chicago on July 3-5. Tickets to those shows sold out last weekend.

I think someone was on to something when talking about Don Was and Eric Church. Would be fun to attend.

I got a Citi card just for presales. How does it work? Do they have to send you a presale email or can you just go to citiprivatepass.com with your card?

How much do you think tix will be? Nevermind, saw it $69-$500.

Awesome lineup!

BUT how are they are getting all of that done in one evening's worth of time?

I imagine it will be very similar to the Dr. John and Gregg Allman tributes.

Merriweather is in my neck of the woods. I'll have to look into this.

Those Citi club pre-sales seem to be easy. You just enter your card number on Ticketbastid to get access.

I suppose I should break down and get one of those.

This will sell on ticketfly not ticketmaster and you should just need the first 6 numbers from credit card.

I got to thinking, since this is on a Thursday there is no need to rush home the next day. I need to do some research to see who is playing nearby on Friday and Saturday nights to figure out what city is best to fly into. I figure fly in somewhere and drive to Columbia and then back to wherever for the weekend.

hmmm what are my choices....Baltimore....DC....any other suggestions?

Check Richmond Hemp. A great, often overlooked city. Flights are often less expensive. It does add an hour to the Merriweather trip, but I go to a lot of shows there and in Charlottesville and hour west of Richmond. That drive is one of the most beautiful in the country.

I just pulled a Left Center Section Row R Seat 11.

Unfortunately I'm already committed to seeing Todd Rundgren that night.

No comparison between the shows. But I already have the Todd ticket, it is much closer to home, the show is far less expensive, the shows at the Birchmere, and parking is free.

http://www.jambands.com/news/2015/05/12/dear-jerry-producer-shares-concert-details/

Dear Jerry producer Keith Wortman shared some details about this week’s sold out Dear Jerry concert on last night’s episode of Tales from the Golden Road. Wortman noted that the event will last about four hours and will begin promptly at 7pm. The show will feature two sets, with the first set showcasing full bands like Widespread Panic and Railroad Earth, and the second set focusing on individual artists. Those artists will be backed by a house band that includes guitarists Audley Freed and Buddy Miller, drummer Raymond Weber, keyboardist Matt Rollings, bassist Don Was and backing vocalists the McCrary Sisters. Wortman also confirmed that, “for the most part,” each artist will be doing one song, though there will be “a handful of folks doing more than one song, and yes, there’ll be some very unique sit-ins and duets and collaborations throughout the night.”

Additionally, Grateful Dead drummer Bill Kreutzmann—who will be at the Dear Jerry show with his Billy & The Kids project—told the Washington Post that he would be interested in playing with his old bandmates at the concert, saying, “I would gladly share the stage with Phil and Mickey and Bob if that opportunity arises. I won’t even know until we start rehearsing for that show coming up but that’s the thing I do: I like playing music.”

Dear Jerry will take place at the Merriweather Post Pavilion in Columbia, MD this Thursday, May 14. The show will feature appearances by Mickey Hart, Billy & The Kids, Bob Weir, Allen Toussaint, Bruce Hornsby, Buddy Miller, David Grisman, Eric Church, Grace Potter, Greensky Bluegrass, Jimmy Cliff, Jorma Kaukonen, Los Lobos, moe., O.A.R., Peter Frampton, Railroad Earth, the Disco Biscuits, Trampled by Turtles, Widespread Panic, Yonder Mountain String Band and Communion featuring Phil Lesh, Stu Allen, Grahame Lesh, Ross James, Alex Koford and Jason Crosby.

The taperrob stream is better quality...

They just played Touch of Gray... It was alright, not transitive by any means.

I just walked in the door from seeing Todd Rundgren so I'm in a different musical space.

Now playing Ripple.

Railroad Earth was cut out of the show because of time constraints. That sucks. I guess too many artists were invited. They should have made it a two day event. RRE were supposed to do Terrapin Station. Here is a version by them from 2004.

This was a fantastic show. I thought Phil's set was a little spacey and slow and too long. if he had only played 2 songs it would have been better. things started rolling along pretty good after that. the delays between acts wasn't bad and gave us old guys a chance to sit and rest our bones before the next act. Bobby screwed up a couple of times but the most obvious was when he was playing with Los Lobos on Bertha. The guys were just jamming along to the rhythm and there was no solo, finally Hildago steps up to the mic and says "Hey Robert" and Bob's head pops up and he step forward and starts his solo. pretty funny. There were a few sound issues too, but that's to be expected.

What was weird for me was that people kept kinda looking at me as I walked around. Then people started walking up and asking if they could take my picture. I suppose I might look a little like Jerry but I've never gotten that kind of attention before. I'd get comments like "nice costume" and "You are the greatest performance artist of all time, can I hug you". At first it was cute but after awhile it got annoying. Made me kinda think about what people with famous faces must go thru every day.

Anyhow it was a very good show.

I agree, I think Phil screwed up the timing of that show by playing way too long right out of the gate. As he was dragging on, I said to my buddies I don't know how they are going to fit all these bands in.

Which is a shame because I really wanted to hear Terrapin and Eyes of the World and Ramble on Rose.

All told, the vibe of the show was great as was the overall sound. That said, getting into that place and parking were a mess. Also, there were so many people there, that we couldn't see the stage from the lawn.

My favorite song of the night was Scarlet Begonias by the Disco Biscuits. I need hear more of their stuff because I don't know much of it.
