Nice to see Jeff with the Les Paul, playing with a pick, inventing notes that no one else knows:

I saw Beck in 1974 at the Wake Forest football stadium. Jeff played a black Les Paul on about half the show and a yellow Strat with whammy bar the rest except I seem to remember a yellow Tele on one song.

Lynyrd Skynyrd opened and especially after a blistering 9 minute Free Bird which Ronnie dedicated to Duane Allman, Berry Oakley and Otis Redding, most of the crowd thought they better than Beck. Gary played a Les Paul, Allen an Explorer and Ed played a Strat.

But actually I doubt Lynyrd Skynyrd had the chops to play what Beck and his band did. Rather challenging and complex stuff but it wasn't Sweet Home Alabama. Gimme Me Three Steps and Free Bird and that is what the Confederate flag waving red neck long haired country boys wanted. Maybe Ed King could have played the stuff Beck and his band did, I don't know.

Not if they lived to be 1000 years old.
