3/10 set list thread

asking just for curiosity but did they even invite dickey to come at least sing a song as I know his playing is no longer up to par? what about any of greggs kids or Oakley jr or duane betts?
Dickey was invited and declined. The Allman Betts Band just played a show in LA with Robby Krieger and Matt Abts.
thank you.i am satisfied with that. classy of them and classy of betts to straight up decline

Dickey Betts is a bigger star and deal in the Allman Brothers Band than anyone on stage at MSG. If it were not for Dickey, the Allman Brothers would have sounded different and likely not have been as successful. And Derek, Warren, Chuck etc can't touch Dickey in his prime. Dickey's guitar solos are legendary and same with his song writing. His singing on certain songs is very pretty .
There wasn't ANYONE on that stage on 3/10 that comes close to Dickey Betts!!!
Of course they had to invite him. No question everyone on that stage would yield to Dickey as being THE MAN as far as surviving members of the ABB.
But Dickey had to decline. He is still shaky from his mild stroke and brain surgery. Plus he is 75 years old. Age and hard living has taken its toll. Dickey can't cut a gig like 3/10 anymore. The singing isn't there now. And he can't play a solo like OWO on Eat A Peach now. His guitar abilities are way off now. I saw the 2018 Macon show and as he did get better as the tour went along, Dickey can't bring it anymore. But he is down in Florida living in a mansion in a gated community with a boat, swimming pool and a private island across the bay from his house. Dickey is a millionaire 40 times over. And having the talent to write songs like Jessica and Blue Sky and play lead guitar like he does on Fillmore East and Eat A Peach and Brothers and Sisters is why Dickey is lable to live well.
Not now by a good measure...but in his prime nobody on that stage on 3/10 at MSQ could touch Dickey Betts.
Warren didnt say in 2008 in an interview that Dickey's sound and contribution to the Allman Brothers is huge for nothing. And Warren said he would not play in the band if he was standing in the way of Dickey coming back but unfortunately right now Dickey isn't interested and neither are Gregg and Butch. Warren said that and many may remember it.

Yes indeed blackey & you know the brother would’ve been grinning ear to ear hearing this music he helped create, back on stage once again in the hands of musicians he played so long & well with
As you said all ABB fans have only love & admiration for Dickey, & are glad to know he’s happy & hopefully well in retirement - was likely on the minds of many digging the show so much

You seem to be telling a board full of diehard Allman Brothers fans that Dickey Betts in his prime was excellent, an integral member of the band.
No one here will disagree.

Who is more deserving of an All My Friends type show of love than Dickey Betts - that way, some of this great music, hopefully w/many of the same musicians as 3/10, could make one more return to a stage
Just hand me a blank checkbook & lemme set it up, haha
The first thing he ever wrote in the ABB - was in setlists from at least Jan. 1970 on - was IMOEReed....pret-ty im-pressive
So great/completely unsurprising the boys knocking it outta the park Tuesday

and I pretty much agree which is why it was classy they asked and classy that betts knew for health and performance sake he shouldn't get up there and possible not cut the mustard although I feel he could have easily just sang seven turns and ramblin man and been fine. had the show been closer to florida then maybe he would have been but MSG is a long ways to travel to sing maybe 2 songs and maybe just strum chords but what a treat it would have been to hear seven turns and ramblig man again with him on vocals and the rest of the remaining ABB on stage

It was an incredible show. My head is still buzzing. I was on the floor on Chuck's side. The band came out swinging and they were relentless. It was obvious from early on that it was going to be an epic journey. Slightly shorter, more compact versions of the first several tunes but delivered tightly with precision and enough flourishes to show their mastery. The band clearly elevated into an even higher level with DKMW and then stayed there for the rest of the first set. Too many highlights to even try and point out. The first set closer Jessica was crushing and sent me into the set break trying to re-assemble my skull and get ready for what would surely be a huge second set.
Mountain Jam into Blue Sky with Derek on Duane's goldtop? What a way to open the second set. Desdemona was screaming blistering hot - great choice as the lone tune from the last album. Again the band remained relentless with their onslaught with AWTNM and EHW. It was almost too much to take, they were just ferocious. I think Melissa offered a nice downshift to catch a breath before an epic Liz Reed. Again too many highlights throughout the second set to list, and i think everyone in the house guessed we would hear Midnight Rider and WP to close the show. WP was just hammering. What a finish.
The crowd was just fantastic. I saw very few empty seats, looking up the Chuck side of the stage sections. Pretty much everyone was on their feet all night, at least on the floor and all over Chuck's side on the lower sections that I could see. Lots of boogying down all night. Lots of hugging and arms around each other after tunes, lots of head shaking and "are you kidding me" moments. Turns out MSG was a great venue for this show after all. What an environment. And excellent lighting. When they dropped the stage lights and blended the band into the background of fans behind the stage, it was so cool. The band just shredding away as part of the background, never seen that before, it just felt perfect when they did that from time to time.
No guests was absolutely the way to go. It would have interrupted a totally focused, immersive, continuous, relentlessly pulverizing performance if they were bringing guests on and off. The Chuck addition was just right.
I'm so thankful that the fellas put this show together. They delivered beyond my expectations, which were high. Blessed to have been there and soaked it all in for 4 hrs. A night to remember, a stand-out night among many many great Abros performances i have attended over 30 years. Well done boys, you honored all the Bros, including yourselves, you did it right, and added to the legacy of the Still Undefeated Heavyweight Champions.

nugs.net now has "The Brothers" listed as an artist in the area of the site where you purchase audio downloads. I assume this means that Tuesday's show will be available to purchase soon. Hopefully...

This statement would be true even if Dickey himself was up on that stage too. I adore Mr. Betts but he is a shell of what he was. Let it go, man. Or don't let it go, whatever. Just stop repeating it.

That's cool! I thought they would do more of an official release package with a cd and dvd/blu ray.
As long as I can get that nugs stuff that should be fine!
Everyone has a plan, till you get punched in the face,

The boys by all accounts played a memorable show March 10
Mr. Betts has been happily retired for several years now, not always happily as he’s dealt w/health issues, but disagree that he’s a shell of what he was, he hasn’t performed in years now except for just a few times......
Hear what you’re saying, just disagree w/the shell of what he was part - he left it all out there, watta guy, gotta think he dug the show too & felt honored

As always, Alan Paul wrote the definitive review of the Garden Party, and there were also glowing reviews in Rolling Stone and the Atlanta Constitution. But I would really love to see an article that quotes the Brothers about the show and what they thought of it (and, of course, if there's any chance of a repeat performance, especially a Beacon run -- I know the odds are close to zero, but we can dream, can't we?). Also hoping for DVD-CD package -- from all accounts, this concert merits it. Pax....

Stephen, yeah I was speaking specifically to his chops. The man himself I'm sure is as badass as he's ever been.

we all knew the risk going in but we all had to be there . What a night ! 7th Ave prior to the show had a real cool old time Upper West Side type March vibe . The Garden indeed was the perfect venue and some kudos to Live Nation for the staging and production. The Brother's had us wrapped up in their arms like we were kids in the cradle . They finally let us loose near midnight but we had no interest in leaving that warm , comfy feeling . Wow - Was it a Dream ?

It looked like Duane's bass drum had Butch's name on it. Cant see the whole thing though. Hard to tell.
