I have an Ipod loaded up with 2,000+ songs in my truck on constant shuffle and it feeds me my favorite music of all time. Back to back I heard tunes by Hill Country Revue and Cry Of Love and I started thinking about how each band has 2 solid albums that I love. I love the Dickinson Family and Cody is one of the gents in HCR and Audley Freed who has traveled many a musical road and keeps popping up on stages doing his thing. I personally would love to hear more from each band. Who knows if that will ever happen, but a man can dream?

Do you have any 2 album bands that you wished had hung together and put out more material?

Blind Faith and Cream.

And I'll add a third, The Damn Yankees. Only two were released. I am pretty sure their third album was recorded but never released for some reason.

WHAT ????

You know darn well you are not allowed to elude to or mention Ted Nugent on this website.

What are you thinking anyhow?

Heh, I knew that would elicit a response. Smile But I think they were a great band. Lotta talent.

Ted can be a knucklehead but he is certainly entertaining.

The Firm

I wish The Firm had recorded either 10 years earlier or 10 years later than they did. They could have made great music, but were stuck with that 80's sound.

I agree with the original poster on Cry Of Love, those are two really good albums.

My picks would be:

The Arc Angels

and for a more modern version of a band that went away too quickly

Black Country Communion

Third album was recorded with Damon Johnson replacing Tommy Shaw who had gotten the rights to Styx back and was doing that full time. Some of the songs have since been used for various projects.

Couple of others

BBM - Baker, Bruce and Moore.

Riverdogs - Vivian Campbell's best work and teamed with a great songwriter and singer.

I don't know what happened to that guy.

Saw him/them open for Warren Haynes in about 2008 or so. Imho, a ONE trick pony.

The Firm is a great one although I am probably biased as Paul Rodgers is my favorite vocalist ever. Another one of his I loved when it was released was The Law with Kenney Jones.

Surprised I didn't think of those two.

Back Door Slam is an interesting one. For a brief moment of time it appeared they were a real up and coming band and then they seemingly disappeared.

My wish would be for some LINE-UPs that only had one or two releases to have put out more.

I'm a big Tommy Bolin fan. He did two studio albums with his band Zephyr before he moved on. Those albums have some great moments; they could have had more. The live album "official bootleg" Live at Art's Bar & Grill, released some 25-30 years after the fact, is an amazing performance with rough recording quality.

He did two albums with the James Gang, chock full of great guitar work, one with Tom Dowd at the controls, before he moved on from them. I really like those records and would have loved a third, or a live album, where they really cut loose.

He did only one studio album with Purple, and I love it, and wish there had been another. He did two solo albums and - you guessed it!!! - they are amazing, maybe his best stuff, and I wish he had lived to do more. I wish he had lived to play again with Billy Cobham, certainly, to do a sequel to Spectrum.

Others:

Mick Taylor has released only two solo albums over his 40-year solo career. Yeesh. We NEED MORE, MICK! Come on now. THAT is a 2-album band I wish I would hear more from!

I am one of those mutants who actually liked Ian Gillan with Black Sabbath. I would love one more from that line-up.

Finally, I guess I should state the obvious:

THE FINAL LINE-UP OF THE ALLMAN BROTHERS SHOULD HAVE MADE ANOTHER ALBUM.

What an incredible shame that they did not do so.
