Great to see you around BDOB! Don't post much myself anymore...
Funny you mention True Gravity. I saw plenty of DBnGS shows but happened to be in a little creekside club in Hilton Head, SC; '08 maybe? Anyway...raging and having a ball in a pretty poorly attended show. So I was pretty much 5 feet away from Betts as I pleased... Anyway, I was pretty familiar with how the setlists shaped up...and that didn't matter. But this night...as I was literally feet away grooving, Dickey throws a curveball and they SMOKED True Gravity right in my face. I mean, barely think the riser was 2 ft. high. Betts' Gibson eye-level...and just CRANKED True Gravity, right in my dome, lol. I WILL NEVER forget that...it was incendiary (2008 was a better year of Great Southern). Was that the show you were at Dave?

Hey there to you, too, TF!! Cool

I'm trying to recall, but it was either a show he played in Charlotte at The Handlebar or the Neighborhood Theater. Want to say sometime in 2009.

As far as the incredibly awesome Nobody Knows and Back Where It All Begins, does anyone know the lead sequences for these songs between Dickey and Warren? I asked once before and someone said each one predominantly plays on the left or right channel but sometimes that’s hard to hear without headphones. Who plays first lead, second lead, etc. thanks

Nobody Knows and BWIAB both feature Haynes taking 1St lead and Dickey 2ND. These two tracks , both and studio...feature Warren at his best; serious headcutter approach. His style has evolved a bit and is more laid back, imo. Warren was young and hungry...and a holy terror on the dashboard in the earlier mid 90s. This only pushed Betts to greater heights. Two of Dickey's best songs...both a tour-de-force.

Thanks toweringfool! Nobody Knows still gives me chill bumps when I hear it. I love the tempo change (or break) and that song on an Evening With is easily my favorite. From the sound of the first lead guitar on BWIAB, I thought it might be Dickey. But man it’s a smoker!

My apologies for hijacking the thread......carry on please Smile

Anyone that bashes Dickey (other thread) should be able to identify his playing from Warrens. Good grief, that is basic stuff.
