I wasn't going to post this but you are all my friends so I thought I would. After speaking at length with the hospital staff for my mother over the past few days, they are putting her in hospice care. I had a few options and it was the most difficult decision I have ever had to make.
At least I was able to kind of speak with her yesterday. She did know my voice. The cancer was not in remission and has actually spread.
Sorry to bring things down. Don't think you can't be jovial.

Phew. That's a tough one Lee. Sorry you have to go through this. Cancer sucks.
Yes, cancer does suck....it's tough for everybody to go through.....

So they told me it was all but over yet she's still hanging in there. Guess I shouldn't be surprised, she's always been a tough cookie.
They had three options on what to do:
Leave her in the hospital
Take her home (bad idea)
Move her to an assisted care facility
They chose the last one which pisses me off because I told them not to do that.
I can't really believe this but she was able to tell one of the nurses that she wants to see me so I am going back to Michigan. Unfortunately, this will probably one of many trips I will be making back and forth to get everything tied up. It's difficult trying to care for someone when you live so far away.

I am going to Bristol on Sat to see the race. Been going there for 36 years now. It is nowhere as fun as it was back then. NASCAR is really struggling to find an audience now. I tried watching the Truck Series race last night and after a long rain delay, the race was started but I lost interest quickly.
Monday is the total eclipse. We are going to a vineyard in Sparta, TN right on the line of totality to watch it. It is really generating a lot of interest here - schools have cancelled classes, a run on viewing glasses, traffic advisories... I read where the authorities are expecting 1.4 million people will come to East Tennessee.
We're right in the path too. Motel rooms here were all booked by last year.

X2 Lee. Sorry to hear this. My Mother was put on hospice too but not for the same reason. It's tough no matter what the cause. 🙁

Good afternoon. Work gave us a break to check out the eclipse 
Spent the weekend at the Hoxeyville festival. Friday and Saturday was alot of fun. Woke up Sunday morning with a swollen eye and the feeling something was under my eye lid. Went to a local ER to get it checked out and waited for an hour without being called which turned into a blessing. Found a urgent care place that took a look for cheaper. Seems it got infected so a week of eyedrops.

Good afternoon knuckleheads. Back from Meeechigan. Been a long few days but I am coming to grips with things.
Saw some family I hadn't seen in years. Heck, I didn't even recognize them. 😉
I think I am going back this weekend if not sooner.

Drove all over the state of Meeechigan, saw a bunch of old places I hadn't seen in years. It was weird. Heck I even had to go through Indiana. 😉
I haven't had a car in about 15 years but I might soon. Just don't know where I would put it. It costs a fortune to park here but my buddy owns a condo on Lakeshore Drive, right on Lake Michigan so they are loaded. He thinks he might be able to get me a spot in their garage for free.
Kind of my call. Nobody else needs it.

So I just found out I have an appointment with a neurologist next month. Didn't know about it but my primary care physician did it.

Gary Indiana has a low level team. My buddies and I have wanted to go for a couple of years but it never worked out.
Never thought I would want to go to Gary. We should all chip in and buy woods a one way ticket to Gary and see if he makes it out alive.

It was kind of dingy light here for a long while, similar to dusk. Then, over the course of about ten seconds it was like someone had pulled a shade down on the outdoors. Got dark and the street light by my home came on. Temperature dropped too. Interesting experience.
