And ironically I ran into the happily married couple today. They have no clue what happened last night and I didn't say anything. I can probably get the guy fired as they all work together. I'm kind of in an awkward situation.

In more uplifting news, just saw that there is a Rocks show coming up: JJ Grey & MoFro, Magpie Salute & The North Mississippi All Stars.

Wish I had some disposable income.

So about 45 minutes until the Chicago fireworks start. They are getting ready. No clue why they start so late on Saturday. Coast Guard is out.

So I went online to look up the Mule tickets here in Chicago in October. Face for a pair is $72. Price out the door:

$99.42

This consists of:

Delivery Charge
Amusement Tax Fee
Order Fee
Service Fee

I think there might have also been a taking a crap fee in the fine print somewhere.

Good Morning

Really good night of music last night. My favorite moment was Chick and Bela doing a duet. Chick had his Elektric Band from the 80s. The venue was pretty empty so they let us move down from the cheap seats which was nice.

I am going to Bristol on Sat to see the race. Been going there for 36 years now. It is nowhere as fun as it was back then. NASCAR is really struggling to find an audience now. I tried watching the Truck Series race last night and after a long rain delay, the race was started but I lost interest quickly.

Monday is the total eclipse. We are going to a vineyard in Sparta, TN right on the line of totality to watch it. It is really generating a lot of interest here - schools have cancelled classes, a run on viewing glasses, traffic advisories... I read where the authorities are expecting 1.4 million people will come to East Tennessee.

Hey Alan, I forgot (briefly) that you attend Bristol every year. Taking your Dad, right? Very cool that you keep it up regardless of the drop in the product they are offering. Yes I remember the days when getting a ticket to Bristol was simply out of the question, not available, sold out.

Regarding the eclipse, we are currently in Franklin, NC - a town also in the direct path. All of these small towns in or around "the path" are planning huge events, attempting to capitalize and I can't say I blame them.

Dire predictions are everywhere of traffic gridlock, cell and internet service disruptions, food shortages, emergency service disruptions.

On top of that, what if there is cloud cover next Monday, ha, ha. I am simply curious to see how dark it gets, if I can't actually see the sun due to cloud cover, oh well.

I am also very curious to see if the crowd predictions materialize.

We have stocked up just in case.

Yeah, Dad will be 80 next month and still goes to the office nearly every day and plays golf regularly (though not as much as Sang 😛 ). We also go to all the UT home games. As long as he is able and wants to attend these events, I will go with him.

I hope the gridlock does not materialize until after the eclipse because we will need to travel about 100 mi. on I-40 to get to where we are going. I figure leaving about 8 eastern to get there at least by 10 central which is 3 hours to travel a distance that I usually can cover in about an hour and 1/2.

Cool that you are in a place where you can see it!

The full eclipse will hit Southern Illinois near Carbondale - it will be absolutely nuts down there. Hoping things are a little more sane near Chicago.....although it is almost impossible to get glasses for it now.....

One of the TV stations had a giveaway for glasses over next to where I work yesterday. Cars were backed up 3 hours before it started.

Saw a great Mule/Galactic show last night in Indy. Got to catch up with a few old friends, and gave Lee a chance to listen to Soulshine.

It was mostly a balls-out, Old School Mule sort of show.
