The Allman Brothers Band

Newsletter – Peach-O-Gram 11/14/2003

Hey there sweet family,

It’s always nice to get together with you, but especially when there’s a reason to celebrate. Like? Like, congratulations are in order for the Allman Brothers Band – their “Live at the Beacon Theatre” DVD has gone Gold! Whoooo hoooody hoo! 🙂 If you’ve somehow missed ordering this glorious homage to the 2003 Beacon run, well, it’s never to late to jump on your favorite Band’s wagon. There’s a link to order, and to DVD reviews, on the home page of:

Even though it’s a few months (months? like we’re not all counting the days! 😉 ) until the next Beacon run, the good news is that individual members of the Allman Brothers Band are still tearing around the country bringing great music your way.

For instance, The Derek Trucks Band has a *very* special show planned for the Town Hall in NYC tomorrow (Saturday, 11/15). Trust your sister, if you’re anywhere near the NYC area you want to be there … and then tell us all about it on the Guest Book 🙂 The rest of the DTB’s tour so far includes:

Probably the most unique “What I’m Up To” news comes from Oteil, who wants you to know, “I just got back from about 10 days in Japan. It was just myself, Victor Wooten and a drummer named Derico Watson. Yep, that’s right, just 2 basses and a drummer! We played in Tokyo, Yokohama, Nagoya, Kobe, and Osaka. We also took a pleasure trip to Kyoto which has 1500 temples!!! I am going to give Lana a CD of all the pictures that we took and let her decide which ones to put up.

We had such a great time. I met many ABB fans. One guy’s whole back was a tattoo of Duane!!! It was cool to meet Japanese hippies! They were so, so kind to us and gave us a warm reception. One group of people flew from Taiwan just to see us. A 4 HOUR FLIGHT Y’ALL!!!!! Well, we (The Peacemakers) are so psyched to be out on the road with the Peacemakers again and hope that we will see you at the shows. By the way, we have a bunch of new songs that you’ll be hearing on this tour so don’t miss it. Much love and thanks to you, Lana, as always. Raleigh, here we come!!!”

Thanks for the update, Oteil!
