HTW Newsletter: August 7, 2003

Hey there sweet family,

What an a-may-zen summer for the Allman Brothers Band!

Their new CD “Hittin’ the Note” is getting great reviews. (click: https://allmanbrothersband.com/modules.php?op=modload&name=userpage&file=content&page_id=35

to see ’em) and fans all over the country are raving about the tour:

Jones Beach: “Man oh man, what a show. My 30th time seeing the Allmans, and you’d think they knew it from the way they came out rocking and didn’t letup.”

Cleveland: “Wednesday nights show in Cleveland was without a doubt, the best ABB show I have seen in 25 years … The individual power each guitarist displayed was absolutely AWESOME!!. Into and out of drums, the individual band members collectively drove the crowd insane. And just when you thought the band was going to hit a quick encore and bolt…along came the BEST Whipping Post played to my ears since the late 70’s. Pure unadulterated bliss…”

Ottawa: “The Blues festival crowd aged over 3 or 4 generations but the music tied us all together, and those that had never heard or seen the ABB before are now the staunchest of fans. No pretentions to what we saw or heard, just great musicianship and totally pure and honest music, long live the Allman Brothers Band!”

Boston: “The song washed over the crowd like an opium laced tide, gently catching us in it’s blissful undertow and drawing us toward the band. Absolutely captivating … This was the best concert of any band I’ve seen in two years. The ABB are on a serious roll.”

Hartford: “It was an amazing show – Why did I wait so long to see them again? I believe one of my brothers and I will be taking a trip to the city in March to see them at their annual Beacon Theater bash.”

Speaking of shows, the ABB and Clear Channel Entertainment are collaborating in an innovative new program, Instant Live, to record and duplicate shows during the tour. Instant Live gives fans the opportunity to purchase and walk away with a CD of the concert they’ve just attended before they leave the venue. For more information about the program zip over to:

The Mayor of Raleigh, Charles Meeker, will present a tree to the Allman Brothers Band, the only act to appear at ALLTEL Pavilion each of the venue’s 13 years in operation. A certificate stating that a tree will be planted in the band’s honor will be given to each band member in an on-stage presentation by the mayor, a professed Allman Brothers Band fan.

The presentation will take place at ALLTEL Pavilion, Sunday, August 10 at 8:15 pm, immediately before the band’s performance. If only they could stick around and govern 😉

The good news is this a-may-zen summer isn’t over yet. There’s still much more happiness to be had, beginning in Georgia and extending through North Carolina this Friday – Sunday. As the ever-wonderful Ron Everhart says, “The swing through Atlanta, Charlotte and Raleigh usually produces at least one or two GREAT nights of music and the other’s usually nothing short of terrific. We’ll be there, dancing, whooping, exposing kids and college students to a kind of music that transcends genre and generation, and well, more importantly, having fun surrounded by people we love and strangers whose common humanity we’ve been given this opportunity to remember and experience. ‘Tain’t nothin’ important, just a religion we’re spreadin’ here!”

Yessss! Tell it, Ron! See you there!

And speaking of “seeing you there,” be sure to look for the Hittin’ The Note crew, who will have a table at the Atlanta, Charlotte and Raleigh shows … stop by, say hi, and tell ’em HTW sent ya!
