Hey GB. The Beacon run continues in April w/ Govt Mule playing the theatre 4/17. Yeah Baby!!!!
Well I haven't been around the last 4-5 days. After the news about my mom I needed to get out and into the backcountry to clear my head and find some peace. I went up to Yosemite on Sat. and did a 4 day cross-country ski and snowshoe hike up to a mountain top (Dreams) just south of the Yosemite valley. 8 Feet of snow and 60 degree days. The nights were perfect with the full moon coming on and no wind. Yesterday I summited a 9000 ft mountain and watched the sunrise up and over the valley. I was raised by my parents to respect and view nature in wonder. I got that and more. Thanks to all of you for your kind words and thoughts. Later today the tests will come back about my mom.
I can't believe it (oh yes I can), I'm being SPAMMED here in my private messages. What slime. And I got another weird one from who I don't know who two days ago. I tell ya, I am a weird magnet. Proof: See who associates with me in NYC!

Mornin' y'all. I am going to give up my suite at the Beacon for the first weekend....just coming in for Friday's show and probably wont stay in the city. Dont know if its sold out or anything, but if anyone wants it, drop me a line and we can work something out.
PS Marley, I LOVE Alice in Chains 🙂
Goliath, unfortunately, may have a point there. I've been annoyed by Godsmack since day one since they're an Alice in Chains ripoff... of course, that probably means zero to anyone else here. But suffice it to say I'd rather see anyone else in the category win. It'll be announced around dinner time, EST, right? Peace. --Marley
Never heard any Godsmack, but I bet they will win the grammy because the opposition consists of really good musicians....EAPFP
Yeah, I don't see too many Godsmack-heads out there. 😉
Best of luck to the guys, though I doubt any of them are attending or watching. I think we should get started now on the Deep End for Best Album Campaign...I want to see both albums nominated in a lot of categories next year! Peace. --Marley
Godsmack Feeling Good About Grammy Chances
(2/26/02, 1 p.m. ET) -- Among the nominees at Wednesday's (February 27) Grammy Awards is Boston-based hard rockers Godsmack, whose "Vampires"--a track from their latest album, Awake--is nominated for best rock instrumental.
The band is up against Jeff Beck ("Dirty Mind"), the Allman Brothers Band ("High Falls"), Joe Satriani ("Always With Me, Always With You"), and Steve Vai ("Whispering A Prayer"). Nevertheless, Godsmack frontman Sully Erna is optimistic about Godsmack's chances for walking away with a Grammy.
"It's actually something I feel we have a shot at getting. We're up against good people--Jeff Beck, and the Allman Brothers, and Steve Vai, and Joe Satriani. But out of all those bands, we're probably the most current rock band," Erna noted. "So, I think it's in a way kind of cool. Maybe if we were up for best new single or something, we could've been up against Destiny's Child or Janet Jackson or whatever and not even had a shot at it."
Even if the band doesn't win a Grammy, Erna told LAUNCH he's happy the band's hard work paid off. "I'm glad someone has recognized the band at least, because the band has definitely worked hard over the last so many years, and we've toured relentlessly. We just, actually, finished up three years of straight touring. For whatever it's worth, it doesn't matter, win or lose, at this point. It's just to be recognized is just a big accomplishment for this band," he said.
Godsmack is working on material for its next album. The group also has a new song, "I Stand Alone," on the soundtrack to the upcoming film The Scorpion King, which arrives in stores March 26.
Three weeks and one day for this kid and it couldn't come fast enough! All you first weekend Beaconaires, don't get too crazy and please don't be too noisy at night, Birds need their sleep! 😎
When is the grammy for the rock instrumental handed out? I know that it isn't a televised catagory, but is it one of those that is handed out at a pre ceremony (the night before)?
I can't stand music awards, but I am still just a little curious to see if our boy's walked away with another paperweight.
Wow, Duane sure did get around. 12/1/70 in Tampa with D&D, 12/4/70 in Syracuse with D&D, then 12/5/70 in Greenville, NC with his band. That's some serious road work. Chris R, way to go Bro!!! Keep on getting better!! Two week, two days, NYC.......Beacon!!!:D :eek:Johnny
Tom S called last night to say that apparently his computer has crashed. He is most concerned about the CD burns/trades he has going on. Bad enough that his burner was toast, now he doesn't have access to the emails and info on the trades that he was trying to complete. If you are one of the folks who has an ongoing deal with him, please PM me here with your phone number or other info and I will pass it on to him.
ChrisR...Tom said he is very glad to see you had successful surgery and are on the road to full recovery. Ditto from me!
Now, who's up for Oteil and the Peacemakers in Raleigh tomorrow night? See y'all there
Peace, Betty
