One more thing. I have an extra copy of 2 shows and thought I would pass them to a couple of gbers. Here is how this is going to work. The first 2 people to post on the GB gets them that way everyone can see who the first 2 people are. 1 show per person. The shows are 5/11/96 and 8/11/98. This is a freebie so after the 2 people post send me your addresses and GOOD LUCK.

Hey Southpaw, I agree completely about Otiel and the Fender bass. Looked like he enjoyed playing it as much as we enjoyed hearing it. Also, pretty good sleuthing on your part Saturday! After you left, I thought to myself "How the he** did he find me in this crowd??!!"

Hello All: Really enjoying all the great reviews and getting psyched for the rest of the summer tour. I had the opportunity to get tickets for the Meadows in Hartford on 8/11, this past Sat., and tried the American Express phone line, first. Well, American Express must be getting hip to the fact that there are non American Express cardholders using their service because they asked me for the Customer Service number off the back of my card-well, they would not let me purchase tickets because I gave them the number off my Visa. Needless to say, I could have had tickets at 10:05, with that phone line, but I still managed to get some decent seats 45 minutes later on. Next time, I'm just going to borrow the phone number from someone with an AmEX card, and see what happens. Have a great day and keep those reviews coming. I'm bringing my 2 sisters and 3 friends to the Hartford show-I've been telling them all about the great reviews. Lana-You and your enthusiam for the Canes was infectious-they had a great run this year-wait til next season !!!

I felt saturday was a couple notches higher.. yes wp was a great way to end the 1st set.. Im really kinda fried, so for now I will be brief.....My review from the the first night I had a selfish wish that Oteil would use his new/old 1964 fender jazz bass much more on the 2nd night yes yes....wp was awesome the frequencies and tones carry much much better than the "mod" there are low frequencies sometimes that are just to boomy.... oteils fender bass.... is so perfect.. a much better fit for the over all tone of the band....and as for my selfish wish...not that he read my post...and I did chat with him befor the show....the 2nd set instumental and maybe the encore were the only tunes he play the mod on.... thanks oteil.....I guess I love that fender bass tone.. okay, the coffe is kickin in... at the fillmore they have this side area ,table and chairs et...all kinds of posters....so IM sittin back leaning against the wall, this is after the 1st set....just relaxing enjoying the sit after dancin and I see these white chicken legs come passin by me....saying to myself gad zooks....who is the bird with those legs....low and behold its Butch...LOL :-p passin by, a couple minutes later derek walks by and I give derek a happy fathers day wish.....greeted by a big grin 😀 I had a blast:cool:

Look out Chicago there's another FIRE coming to town. The first set tonight was mostly their new stuff. They did a wonderful Come and Go Blues in addition to NOTRW. First Madel for me and all those new songs give Derek and Warren a chance to wail. Second set we got Dreams again and here's when I started to get really interested. I noticed alot of play between Derek and Warren. Each would do maybe 7 seconds. They did this alot in All Night Train. Best yet! Stormy Monday again with the guitar play and I saw Derek do alot of regular lead, sure alot of slide too and he's amazing. Is Rocking Horse a new song or is it officially now old but again I love it. Don't you think it'll get some air play when the new album comes out. I kept thinking we would get Southbound as the encore but they played it for their last song and came back with Denver's 2nd Mt. Jam. BTW the crowd tonight was way more appreciative of the band and was louder at the end of songs. We got a how we doing and we'll be right back after a short break. No good or nice bunch but we deserved one:) I had a great time at all three shows so yall go see them if you get the chance. They'll but a smile on your face for sure.

ChrisInBama & Buppalo1,...Now that must have been something to see, and hear. The Allman Joys,...Wow, very cool. I was only 10 years old in 1966, but by 1969 I was already attending shows. I believe my very first concert was in 69 at the Capitol Theater in Port Chester, NY. Ten Years After. Not to be confused with the Capitol in Passiac, NJ. Anyway, I thought that was pretty cool, the Allman Joys thing...Peace All,...Neil

ChrisinBama: I too was at the Allman Joys show at Ft. Brandon. Oct. 1966, if memory serves. (Damn, dude! You must be old as me!) The Coleman Colleseum show was Jan.-Feb. '73, I believe. Seems like it was cold. Haven't checked the live show DB. Just going from memory. Welcome to the GB. Hope you can join us before Oak Mtn. You gonna' like it here, Bro.Happy Birthday to Mitch and Gary. Hope all the Dads had a good one. EAPFP

Well first of all, happy birthday PeachNutt! Hope you're havin' a great day! As for last night's ABB show (Saturday Denver Fillmore), Steve Portela and Cruzpro did a great job of capturing the highlights of the night. For me, I can't say which night was better, because I enjoyed them both. For Saturday's show, I agree that the band seemed tighter overall. I got in relatively early so I was basically in the "second row", but this time between Warren and Otiel. Trouble No More rocked solidly, and for me was a surprise as an opener (I expected Statesboro Blues). I enjoyed hearing Worried Down With the Blues, and there was a great jam at the end of it. If there's a category for best new blues song, WDWtB has my vote. Warren played Duane-soaked slide leads for Done Somebody Wrong, and the rest of the band was locked throughout the song. It may have been due to my view of Warren and Otiel, but it seemed that Otiel was really playing off of Warren and anticipating Warren's moves, Rocking Horse in particular. High Cost of Low Living had a great Derek slide solo. Whipping Post was very solid, with Derek and Warren playing unrestrained. They seemed committed to closing out the first set with a WP to remember. From a "wouldn't it be nice" standpoint, I wish I had a video of this song, with Derek breaking a string on his Washburn just minutes into his solo, and waving off the guitar tech with the replacement SG, firing off a great solo, to be followed by a scorching Warren solo. The second set had Woman Across the River, which to me sounded better than Friday's show. This could be because the tempo seemed slightly faster, which to me made for a better performance. Or it could be because I was hearing more of Otiel's funky bass, which I think this song depends on. The new instrumental, which was the extended second set version with drums and bass solos, is really taking shape. It seems to take advantage of both Derek's and Warren's strengths, which they both proved in their solos last night. For me, it was a great two nights of music with a rare opportunity to see the band play close up.
