Stephanie - All I know is that they opened with R.H., per Benjamin's prediction (request?).
Okay, guys, where are those reports on last night's dTb show at the State Theatre in Falls Church, VA?
Nothing like a dose of reality to shut a person up. Last night I came home from work and got a wonderful package of shows in the mail from Jeff W. (Thanks!!). There were four Mule shows and just to prove to me that Warren doesn't play Rocking Horse EVERY night, two of the four did not have R.H. on them. Interestingly enough, the two that didn't have it were from two years ago, while the two that did contain R.H. were from last year. This leads me to believe that Warren is simply going through a "Rocking Horse phase". I'm sure he'll grow out of it.
hey gang good morning:cool:
just a little blurb here......ya know I just love that hourglass stuff, down in texas came on HTW radio a bit ago...man I dig that........
My stepson Brian, and his Sarah, took the old man to Syracuse tonight to get my butt kicked by the Mule. It was a successful mission. Thanks for the guitar lesson, Warren. I heard lots of favorites, plus new songs from Deep End 2. George Porter, Jr., and Danny Louis played the first set, and Danny and a second bassist I didn't know(last name was Alexander, I think) played the second set.
It was a good mix of fans, young and not so young, and all having a real good time. And I finally got to hear the When Doves Cry>Beautifully Broken I've been reading about here.
Even though I had seen Warren 3 times this year with the ABB, I hadn't seen the Mule since before we lost Woody. Thanks for keeping it going strong, guys. You made this ol' fella's night something to remember.
.........Yep Rich, picked that one up myself, now I need a DVD player and some 1970's stash then I'd really be in RnR heaven....I don't have a garage , but the screen porch works very well....
Dear Mr. Fantasy, play us a tune........time to pass out the 1am Demerol to the chosen ones, wish I was home instead of here at work....but, on the bright side I'm only 6 hours away from a 3 day weekend.....nite all...EAPFP

i KNEW there was a problem -- that stuff's been in my stash for 27 years! ahahahahahaha! maybe i'll move up to some 80's stuff, then gradually work my way up to about 1993, which should be about my speed these days!!

Don't know if anyone else saw it, but last night in Atlanta on the channel 2 (ABC) 6:00 news they had a special about the dangers of pot smoking - how the weed we smoke now is so much more potent than in the 70's, blah, blah, blah. Next thing you know they are showing a High Times magazine and Warren's picture is on the tube! Made me want to fire one right up! hehe

I just wanted to drop by and say "Thank You!" for all of the birthday wishes and kind thoughts today (and yesterday, thanks to Lizzy B)! I'm so happy to have met so many of you, and I look forward to meeting even more of you great folks!
Thank you so much for helping to make my birthday a very happy one, indeed!
I've enjoyed reading the dTb talk on the guest book, not enjoyed the political talk (some people tend to think that everyone who posts on this board has as exteme of views as they do), enjoyed the debate over rockin horse, and enjoyed reading opinions on the new tunes & album to be.
now my 2 cents....I'm not a big Rockin Horse fan. It has some good main riffs and I think it could be a killer 4-5 minute song if they highly featured the rolling riff in the chorus as the kick off to the song and added an upbeat shorter End of the Line / No One to Run With type solos in the middle. I'm just not much for the chug-a-chug-a-chug slow rhythm in the middle of the tune that turns into two headbanging extended guitar solos. Not enough fluidity to me. I think few people in the big picture would miss the song at an ABB show if it were not played.
Soulshine, on the other hand, has become a modern-day jam band Anthem, most associated with the ABB. Since few people attend more than 1 show a year, it is one that is receptively received by the masses when it is played. I enjoy it myself when I hear the ABB play it.
As for the new ones, Desdemona and High Cost are classics. I think the two covers (Heart of Stone and especially Loving You Too Long) are dynamite. Some of the others are good-to-OK and few seem like fillers (maydell, the new instrumental just ain't my thing). I am hoping for some yet to be heard surprises (maybe some horns or a Chuck Leavell appearance) when the album comes out. I think the CD will be real good overall - I just have a feeling.
